I’m so tired of having to hide my love for Spamano. There’s just SO many haters/antis in this fandom now that I’m terrified to post about it.
I swear it’s like if you enjoy anything that isn’t FrUk or GerIta an angry mob is gonna come after you with pitchforks…it’s so annoying😔
I like spamano (if done right), and it's okay to like ships that aren't fruk or gerita I promise
there are always going to be weird and mean people everywhere, you just have to block/mute as the internet gods intended to keep your peace

go crazy. go stupid.
I have alot of things that annoy me about this fandom because you can clearly tell no one ever fucking uses any other history besides war and conflict "Because they don't have interactions with-" UHM HELLO??? ALL THE SOCIAL EVENTS IN HISTORY THE PRIME EXAMPLE IS THE VICTORIA ERA?? If they weren't at any war or battles what do you think they would be doing? Running around like a fucking poor person? Just existing in some random ass room in their important buildings just staring at the wall? Just act as some nobody worker for whoever is in charge? No, they would be regarded as some high in society title and dragged around to social events in where they would be interacting with others of their own kind and humans. Hima has stated everyone knows they're nations, even citizens, they just don't spend long amounts of time with humans because yeah, the concept of a being that looks human, acts human, and pretty functions as a human but doesn't easily die is abit of a wild concept to think about BUT ALSO it was never stated WHY they go crazy, as if it's simply because of some weird nation thing or if it's just the concept blows peoples' minds. This would also tell us they aren't studied by scientists, they're in some other world that's similar to ours but clearly is more fucking humanity in regards of not treating the nations as lab rats which brings me to point out, they would have their own free will and personal lives meaning they can literally be friends with whoever they fucking wanted even if their government deems the other nation as an enemy (Personal preference between fans so idgaf if someone tries to tell me no) because Hima has never made the impression that the nations agree with their governments. The series has been stated repeatedly that it's Satire, and making fun of stereotypes when a character hasn't been inspired by someone Hima knows. There is literally so much more we can give into this characters in regards of all kinds of history alone but sticking to war and conflict for what? "To be respectful?" how? how is that respectful to ANYONE? Why would someone base a character's personality on time period of conflict? Why does it feel like a stupid double standard if we're literally ignoring other parts of history and the culture and traditions? Also, btw, if you want people to respect a culture and tradition, help them find what they need or help provide it, not just yell at them and gatekeep it because honestly that's just making sure no one wants to touch that character again or even dislike them too. We have too many basic ass Karens trying to gatekeepers on how to "respect" something when they don't know shit.
Anon I would also like to point out, as far I am aware, they have humanity too as we France actually missing Joan of Arc, America with Davie, and a few other examples I either don't remember or completely thought up as a headcannon. ~ (¯´★`¯)
this website loves bullying "acceptable" targets (like writing misogynist crap unrelated to racism and adding white women to soften the blow, or antisemitism geting much worse), fandom nerds doing the same for ships or characters fans. for some in this fandom think it is "fine" being a dickhead towards popular ships. it is "fine" being a dickhead towards an european country and also throwing under the bus all their people, but wouldn't be fine doing the same to an asian or african country. shitty behavior won't make rare ships popular, won't make non-european countries more popular (and over-scrutinity and bad faith reading will make people stick with the "safe" characters and ships)
Shitty behavior towards a character isn't going to make people dislike that character, just dislike the ones you want more popular, and you. Trust me I know, too many people do this. ~ (¯´★`¯)
i wish more people would talk about how much bullying there is in the fandom. so many people in the fandom act all nice and genuine, but are in reality huge bullies who get off on shit talking and making people feel bad. especially everyone who acts holier than thou about headcanons or whatever
can we please just be kind to each other?
Sadly we cannot, if we start calling out the true bullies, they'll cry victim or make up some kind of bullshit excuse as why they had this behavior and get mad when we tell them they can't use some bs excuse to act like bullies. Some point they'll just move on to new people, cry victim and call the people who called them out various things like bullies, abusers, or whatever else they can make up.

Guys am I the only one that honestly looks at these dumb little idiots and go like "What's your secrets?" ...prepare for a ramble session With how much "screentime" and well how often they're interacting with each other, I often ask "what if we put them by themselves in their own little houses without anyone else coming around or do anything with them?" Like holy shit, there's so much we don't know about these idiots when they think they're alone. What habits do they have that no one knows about? What hobbies do they keep secret? How they act when no one's looking? How they dress? What they watch? Secret comfort food? Like is N Italy actually freaking calm when no one else is around? He is just chill? Or Germany does he actually relax and enjoy a hobby no one knows about or actually have a unhealthy comfort food. WHY AREN'T WE ASKING THESE THINGS MAN

Sometimes people claim to love a character, yet they have a wrong perception of the character's country. They don't live in that country and either haven't done proper research, or are biased due to living/having been educated in the country they're from, or they have stumbled upon propaganda that they have uncritically gobbled up. Thus, they end up displaying an offensive depiction of the character they apparently love. In another fandom, a character interpretation you dislike wouldn't be a problem - you block and move on, not caring in the slightest. However, in the Hetalia fandom, a improper depiction could give people who aren't familiar with the real-life country the wrong idea about said country and its culture, politics and history. National personifications have always been politically charged and you can't avoid that by saying "it's just characters, it's just fiction, fiction doesn't affect reality". It often does. Fans don't even realize that they're spreading wrong views and ideas about countries, reflecting how they, in real life, operate on views that are perhaps unconsciously based on propaganda, chauvinism, imperialism and/or racism. I only see this fandom as entertainment, I've never befriended people from this fandom, as I prefer befriending people in real life and the fandom drama, immaturity, overemotionality, oversensitivity and toxicity put me off. I don't want to get involved in people's bullshit. I only got interested in Hetalia and joined due to my country being represented in the manga/anime. Now I realize that by not making connections with people, I've kinda shot myself in the foot. If I bring up to someone that their depiction of my country is improper, they could simply block and ignore me, or set their cronies and followers upon me to silence me, without anyone backing me up. I guess not giving a fuck when dramas and callouts happened is biting me in the ass rn lol. Sometimes I think I've turned into one of the people I look down upon. Why should I care, I tell myself, it's just some internet bullshit. The people who actively participate, spread shit and believe in it are probably a small bunch of terminally online losers who can't do shit in real life, what impact could they have on me, my compatriots, the people I care about irl, my country, and the way it's seen and treated internationally. But then again. Many are (surprisingly) adults, they can vote, some are interested in international relations and might end up working in that field one day. And who knows how many people end up seeing and taking to heart their bullshit. Even if they treat one person in an unfair or prejudiced manner due to Hetalia bullshit content they don't even remember consuming and forming their views, it's more than enough.
Ugh. I did not expect that to turn out this long.
Anyways, peace.
Anon, there's alot to say but first and foremost, this has been a fandom problem for a long long time, and I will be honest, I don't think we'll ever fix it. Mainly because while culture and traditions are the same, not everyone is the same in a country. Some people will follow all traditions, some people will follow tradition A and B but not C, and so forth. We also have different views of the country by it's people, so while one person prefers Idea 1, we'll have another person with Idea 2 same as they'll view the country. As for spreading info about your country, just spread it on a blog, turn them into headcannons for your country. People will see and enjoy it more than you might realize. You don't have to call out the people who get it wrong, simply just let them be. They'll learn eventually, because in life you never stop learning about anything. ~ (¯´★`¯)
