I AM NOT RELATED TO THE OTHER HOT TAKE BLOG This blog is dedicated to Hot Takes about Hetalia, but I do have some rules first!

Do not start arguments or drama over hot takes, if you don't like something, just scroll or be anonymous if it has bothered you that much. (Pretty much don't coming in the asks raging and assuming what an anon or mod means, ask questions let it be a discussion)

BLOG RUNNER IS GOING TO BE UNBIASED WHEN IT COMES TO POSTING. That however won't stop blog runner from adding their two cents. This can be positive or negative. Don't assume blog runner agrees with every single ask they share.

I will not post anything that is calling out another blog or content creator by name, I will only post call out actions of a group of people as whole fandom.

Use trigger warnings on topics that are needed. Atleast try to.

Everyone's feelings are valid, if in agreement or disagreement of a hot take, but do not take it out on blog runner.

DO NOT TAKE ANOTHER ANONS' TAKE OUT OF LITERAL CONTEXT TO BASH THEM OR CAUSE DRAMA.

In regards of shipping; Ship and let ship. It's the shipping motto before pro/antishipping discourse came around and will always be what I go by. I refuse those labels on myself but they can be referred in asks.

If you want to add pictures or gifs to your submission, go ahead and send it off anon or in a message! If you send anything off of anon, and it's not already followed up by another submission telling me you didn't hit anon, I will ask you!

I didn't tag something properly? Just comment on the post "Hey this needs x tags!" or telling the actual tags it should need, no I'm not asking you guys to do this, I'm telling you it's okay to do so! I'm not perfect and I know that, I will miss things, everyone does.

Mod let's people have their freedom on what to say, now this does not stop mod from letting others saying something. Aslong we do not dox, or call out anons by their profiles, we should be fine. (Freedom of speech but not from consequences ya know?)

I refuse to watch the English dub. I know that 99% of English speaking fans of the series have watched the dub, but I simply cannot. Maybe I'm the friend that's too woke, but I feel like a lot of the jokes in the dub go too far. That's not to say that the Japanese dub isn't imperfect. However, if you have enough critical thinking skills to recognize what is problematic in the Japanese dub, it can be a great watch! Also mild complaint, but the characterization of all the countries in the English dub is just plain bad. This is just a personal take, but I hate when shows geared towards adults have casts full of the worst people ever. The characterization of all the countries in the Japanese dub is significantly better if you like for characters to be likeable. Again, please view media (especially Hetalia) in a critical lens. Neither dub is perfect, but the Japanese dub is just better in my opinion.

True true it's pathetic when anyone does it but it's extra pathetic when adults do it because they should know better. Also it's unhealthy and immature to get so riled up over made-up characters that you attack real people.

Yeah, I know a few adults who do, they encourage minors or other adults to do the same. People no matter the age who are like that suck.

yeah I respect hcs. I personally don't consider hiding competency as manipulative especially when its more as a way to not get hurt and to not hurt people. He's far too blunt and genuine and has way too much self doubt, and blame towards himself not others for me to consider him manipulative at least in the slick sly way. I also see a lot of people claim Italy is entitled and loves himself and just wants everyone to love him for selfish reasons and they call him e2 but a bunch of scenes contradict this so I don't see it. Though, I'll say the acting weak and innocent after invading Egypt is something I could see as manipulative but the scene was portrayed as so unserious that I don't know. The other thing is hiding his deeper emotions, and seeking reassurance to preserve safety could be manipulative because it is controlling the situation. But yea, I think adding spice to a character is fine, Its hypocritical of me to say otherwise.

I think people are soooo dramatic about incest ships. They're personified countries they can't really be properly related and I can only really get fully seeing it like that for like two sibling duos (the itabros and the german bros) . Everyone just stop being stupid it hurts me

am I just somehow blessed or has anyone else just NEVER experienced any toxicity in this fandom aside from a few incidents

obviously there was the stuff I was complaining about before with people trying to get in the business of bipoc artists, but that's like about it I've not had any other negative experiences

like dear god it feels so much better then most of the roblox fandoms I was in, even though the general age range of "Oh yeah any given person could be either 12 years old with unrestricted internet access for the first time or a 28 year old with a job who draws yaoi as a side gig" is still the same

This fandom will become a better place when adults stop telling minors to off themselves over spats, ships and characters or because they don't share the same views

I'm going to say this right now. It's not adults vs minors.

It's literally both groups who do this, the fandom will be a better place if we didn't have toxic people in it. I've seen minors who have done the same as adults and vise versa. Don't make this a age vs age when it's good vs bad.

actually most of us who were calling him manipulative just kinda like the idea of him being, well, manipulative. it adds a bit of spice to his character, a bit more dimension to his happy-go-lucky character by both opposing and complimenting what we see in canon. that being, he’s happy and silly, but he also hates doing shit he doesn’t want to do even if he’s perfectly capable of doing it.

for example, he presents himself as a slow runner and a coward in part because he’s lazy (and usually just doesn’t feel like being brave or athletic), but has shown to be both quick and a competent fighter when he feels like making an effort. also, he’s a bit of a ladies man and pretty flirtatious (even when he doesn’t exactly mean to be, but like come the fuck on he’s italy lmao). and he just likes getting his way.

so, maybe in canon he’s never explicitly shown to be a master manipulator or whatever, but it’s fun to play with the idea of him being justttt a bit manipulative. it’s not a “people pleasers are inherently manipulative” type thing, it’s “the idea of feliciano being a bit manipulative is pretty interesting, and also makes sense when you actually think about it”.

Honestly, unless you curate your space I feel like the fandom can still be as insufferable as in the past. I remember having to mute one of the r/hetalia subreddits because I feel like every time I viewed it I was just seeing a bunch of posts about ship discourse and none of the mods did anything about it.

It's not only curating it's also looking for red flags in people who can be toxic and well down right mean.
