What does Heteroalterous Aro Ace actually mean??
(I put a lot of breaks in this because I was finding it difficult to read over. ADD problems… -_-)
So let’s start with the easy part.
Aro Ace stands for aromantic asexual. This means I don’t feel sexual or romantic attraction toward other people.
I personally feel sensual, aesthetic, and platonic attraction, but the other two just…don’t seem to be there.
I understand that some people’s fixation on sex and/or romantic, but I just…don’t get it. My brain is one huge 404: Not Found when it comes to that stuff.
Alterous attraction is murky and confusing, but this is how I understand it and define it.
So Let’s say platonic attraction is blue, and romantic attraction is pink. Alterous attraction is kind of a muddy purple in between these two.
I feel platonic attraction for any gender, but I feel drawn to guys in a special way that isn’t really platonic, but isn’t really romantic either. In my case, it means I want to be in a deeply committed, exclusive relationship with him, even if that relationship is not romantic in nature. So I identify as heteroalterous: alterously attracted to the opposite gender.
But you’ll often hear me joke that I’m hetero-something, because it’s all very confusing even for me. :P
Some people enter into queerplatonic relationships with each other because of alterous attraction. If romantic attraction doesn’t show up for the rest of my life, this is probably what I’m gonna do.
If you have any other questions feel free to send me another ask or check out @alterousasteroid and @alterous-albatross, two very awesome blogs dedicated to helping people understand alterous attraction.
SUPPORT ALTEROUS PEOPLE
Alterous- (romantic orientation) feeling love/attraction in such a way that it cannot be comfortablely labeled as either 'romantic' or 'platonic' and can often fluctuate between the two. People can be homoalterous (feeling alterous attraction towards the same gender), heteroalterous (feeling alterous attraction towards the opposite gender), panalterous (feeling alterous attraction towards anyone regardless of gender), or even polyalterous (feeling alterous attraction toward multiple, but not necessarily all, genders). WE ARE VALID. WE ARE REAL. WE ARE NOT JUST QUOIROROMANTIC OR AROMATIC. WE ARE JUST AS MUCH PART OF THE LGBT COMMUNITY AS EVERYBODY ELSE.
