idk i can't really comprehend people liking men as a class. my impression is that masculinity is seen mostly as either a threat or a joke, with it more rarely being invoked by some people to get other people to do what they want. admiration of any kind? no. if someone called me manly i'd assume i was being made fun of.
So you're at a mixed gender party, or a family event, neighborhood BBQ, that kind of event. The men and women interact with each other, but fairly often, they end up clumping up; men around the grill, women in the kitchen, mostly men watching the game, etc. Which group do you gravitate towards, which feels more comfortable, which is probably interacting in a way you enjoy, discussing topics you find interesting?
The ways the words are often used, I don't think it's so much about Masculinity or Femininity as these big idealized symbolic monoliths, it's just... being. Do you want to chit chat in the kitchen, or hang around the grill?
