「 ✦ Hex Appeal | Issue 03 」
꒰ ≪ Issue 02 ꒱ ◦🌷
Secrets? Many. Patience? Nonexistent. Hogwarts’ most reluctant Slytherin advice-giver never asked for your letters, but that didn’t stop them from piling up on his desk. With a quill as sharp as his wit, Ominis Gaunt answers your anonymous questions with brutal honesty, biting elegance, and just enough sincerity to make you wonder if he almost cares. In our third issue, Hex Appeal turns the column over to Ominis Gaunt himself. From cursed crushes to Unforgivable spells, he spares no one—including his so-called friends—and proves that sometimes the truth really does hurt. Also inside: ✦ Owl post disasters that will ruin your morning ✦ Quills with more personality than their owners ✦ And the stairwell secrets you were never meant to overhear He swore he wouldn’t do this. We’re still not sure he’ll forgive us.
unrelated note: happy back to hogwarts day! see u at king's cross <3

Hex Appeal was a surprise. By which I mean, there were like three separate occasions in the beginning portion of the book where I thought we'd found the plot and then suddenly it pivoted and the thing I thought was happening didn't really go anywhere lmao. sometimes that was a good thing, other times it just seemed like a pointless exercise in adding to the page count.
But overall it was a cute book with a cute romance at the center. It had similarly witchy vibes to the Ex Hex series which I've previously read and enjoyed. But I think Hex Appeal put more emphasis on the fantasy plot than Ex Hex did. in Ex Hex it often felt like the witchy aspects, including the magical problem that created the plot, were more there for aesthetics than actual substance. Whereas in this one I think there was a beetter balance.
I did find Hex Appeal started to drag a little in patches but for the most part it was a silly, cute, fun good time and I'll probably check out more from the author.
Just finished this book. Loved it!super cute and witchy!!
