i found lots of different Eumorpha fasciatus caterpillar color morphs today!

📍 Location: Durham, North Carolina 🗓 Date: May 4, 2025 🐾 Media: Image 🌿 Species: Tulip-tree Beauty (Epimecis hortaria) 📝 Notes: Large geometrid moth commonly associated with deciduous forests and woodland edges in eastern North America. Wings are mottled gray-brown with bark-like patterning that provides excellent camouflage when resting on tree trunks or leaf litter.
Larvae feed on tulip trees and other hardwood species. Adults are nocturnal and frequently attracted to porch lights and illuminated surfaces at night.
