RP: Little Bird And A Ship
In which Lennart investigates a crash
Starring: Lennart, RedKite
* Red hunts around in the ramshackled place she calls home. Brass pipes and fans lay strewn all over the sand and a small scruffily built tent lies in the corner underneath the rocky outcropping. Sparks, her robotic bird companion, flutters around her head as she hunts for remaining supplies. It does not look good.*
<RedKite> Shit! Shit shit shit! * Lennart squats, nearby but out of sight. He watches quietly for now. Days previous, he'd watched the small airship come down, waited for the occupants to show, before finally moving to investigate* * As Red rummages in the small wooden box under the tent canopy, Sparks begins to live up to his unfortunate namesake. He emits a few tiny golden sparks before dropping like a stone into the sand, emitting water from his chest and soaking the sand around him* <RedKite> Double shit! Sparks, you twpsin. Did you land in the water ... again?? * Lennart's large brows wrinkle in concern, and he makes his decision to move even closer. He gathers the small possessions he's brought with him, moving back over the brink of a hill to appear as though just moving into sight* <Lennart> Ahoy! Hello there, m'dear! *he waves a large hand over his head* * Red quickly looks up to this strange suited gentleman with a bemused frown.* <RedKite> Er... hi? *Red quickly returns to the little bird, beginning to unscrew the bolts keeping the little bird together. Water streams out of the bolt holes.* * Lennart smiles, drawing closer. He has a small tie-bag of supplies bouncing behind his shoulder, crouching next to Red suddenly, upon noticing the little mechanical bird once more* <Lennart> Oh, dear! What a shame, my dear girl! *His brow wrinkles as he watches the water leak* <Lennart> What a mess! <RedKite> *laughs slightly* Darn bird. You'd swear he was a fish. * Lennart strokes the tiny metal head, surprisingly gently* <Lennart> Remarkably well designed fish, for one! Ahaha! * Lennart chuckles loudly, the bass shaking the tiny metal form before him* * Red regards the strange gentleman with a suspicious look.* * Lennart smiles back, the faintest glimmer of teeth before her* <RedKite> Er... thanks. I really should be getting him back in the air though. His cogs'll flippin rust over if this water isn't drained out. * Lennart nods seriously, blinking down at it* <Lennart> Oh, of course... So delicate. May I be able to assist, young lady? * Lennart gives a tiny piston a small push, letting water drool from it slowly* * Red quickly looks at the gentleman then back at the water stream... then back to the gentleman.* <RedKite> Hey, twpsin! You'll break 'im! * Lennart shakes his head slowly, his smile growing* <Lennart> My dear, no... These pistons must be drained post-haste, no? <Lennart> Trust me, I have quite the experience, and two hands make faster work, no? <RedKite> Well, yeah - but trust me, I made this guy. If anyone knows how 'e works, it's me. I know how to dry 'im out. *She quickly moves the little bird figure out of the way, muttering to herself as she quickly begins work* * Lennart laughs aloud, sitting back to watch her* <Lennart> Hah, the youth of today and their vigour! So many young engineers about nowadays... * Lennart reaches into his shoulder-piece, into a hidden compartment, drawing a few small tools, passing them over as he deems appropriate* * Red laughs at his comment, testing the little bird's wings before noticing the tools.* <RedKite> Heh, I won't be here long. As soon I get the airship back up and running, I'm outta here. *She notices the tools*... hey, these are... * Lennart smiles, his large hand open and easily stocked with the tiny devices* <Lennart> As I said, so many young engineers... Not enough old hands to steer the ship sometimes, ahahHAHA! * Lennart laughs loud and plentifully, toying with his beard softly* * Red frowns before quickly nabbing a small screwdriver to quickly tighten up a bolt on the little bird's wing.* <RedKite> Steer the ship... very funny. * Lennart blinks, then laughs louder* <Lennart> O-oh my, what a slip of the tongue! *He laughs louder, his thick shoulders shaking* * Red frowns again at this strange gentleman. She activates a switch on the back of the little bird, and after a few slightly worrying sparks, it quickly begins to fly.* <RedKite> Hey, Sparks. Good as new. * Lennart smiles, watching it fly* <Lennart> Well hello there fella! * The bird flies around Lennart's head a while, investigating him.* * Lennart slowly, gently offers a hand up, a spot to rest. He whistles softly, trying to attract the small bird* <Lennart> Here, here, here-here ~ <RedKite> ... so who are ya, anyway? You, like obviously didn't come here to wind me up. <Lennart> Oh, I don't know, I might have done..? * Lennart teases her gently, still fixated on Sparks* <Lennart> I came because I saw a fire last night, heard a crash a few days ago of course! Hahah. <Lennart> Just making sure of the safety of another engineer, m'dear! * Sparks skilfully lands on Lennart's finger, his head twitching slightly. Obviously, the little bird is not as 'good as new' as his owner claims.* * Lennart frowns, ducking down and blowing softly against the small mechanical head, letting a few more drops of water ooze from Sparks* <RedKite> huh... well, I assure ya. I'm fine. *As if to add insult to injury, she falls over her feet as she tries to back away from the man* ... goddamnit. * Lennart stands to face her, Sparks balanced carefully on his large finger* <Lennart> Are you sure, my dear? You seem in some trouble, and my and my friends' encampment is hardly a great distance from here... *He offers his hand* <Lennart> Please, I insist. Trust me! My name is Lennart Pengersen, young...? *He pauses for the smaller one's name* <RedKite> Red. *she takes his hand, watching Sparks intently* People call me Red.
