âItâs got to be. No one can tell me differently.â Isabelle shook her head. âGod I used to hate that saying though. Twin thing,â Issy groaned shaking her head recalling all the times Aurora and Rose had used the term and she just wanted to punch them both. Hearing her question about her parentsâŠ. well their parents really Issy chuckled dryly. âLocked up with the rest of the clave,â Isabelle said humorlessly. âIâve lost two sisters, they were twins. Aurora died in a car accident about four years ago now, Cassie and I came home. Then Rose and then she was made into a sacrifice by some psychopaths who wanted to create hybrids. Then there was just me and Cassie. Oh, and ya know our parents had something to do with that so thereâs that.â Issy said dropping the bomb with no subtlety at all.Â
âSorry,â she scrunched her nose, an attempt to look apologetic. Truth was it was weird to have said it, but she couldnât think of how else to describe it, or anything that had to do with them, really. âThe Clave.â This was actually something she knew, though sheâd wanted to hear it from the source herself. Growing up, the Clave had been nothing but fairytale for her, or well, scary stories. âYour parents had to do with your sisterâs--â what was it? Turning? It was something altogether different. Suddenly her heart ached for sweet Cassie who had been so nice to her when Ever had been nihilistic. âWhy would they do that?â
