Great question! (no one asked but it’s a fun story)
Nesval started in an HTTYD LARP club that me and my fellow 8/9 year old schoolmates did on recess. We worshiped the “Dragi King”, the god responsible for blessing us with the HTTYD-inspired dragon wings that we had. This Dragi King ended up becoming first Nanotai, then Nanaum today.
We called ourselves the Knights of the Dragi King. And the drag path of our escapades during recess live on in the modern day.
Dragii are what we were many years ago. I was a Nygati, and I had night fury wings (oh my god nine year old me was so cringe). And yeah, it’s still there. Slightly different, now called Nyðgadinn, but the inspiration was there.
The most sacred place, where the waters of the First Song converged and birthed the Flame of Spirit- called “The Lowest Point”- was derived from the lowest point of the school campus. At the bottom of a hill.
Sygos is more of my own creation, but he was formed still quite early on. I needed a dark to the light. There comes Sygos.
The plant that supports Randið’s economy, Yaiskinn, comes from the new version of school uniforms we got that was a much softer material.
Jeo, capital of Randið, was named after my best friend. He moved across the country :(
Nesval worldbuilding is focused towards the mundane. Every aspect of this world that i’ve created so far has soothed me at one point. Nesval acts as a mirror into our own world, and opposite.
