In school I was always 'quiet' and 'a pleasure to have in class', almost never in trouble. Which means I remember the one week I was in trouble, for no good reason, vividly
We were doing 3rd year (freshman? Maybe) biology and kicking off genetics. We start with environmental vs genetic differences and the teacher ended her summary with "which means everyone has different finger prints, except of course, identical twins."
And I, knowing teachers are infallible sources of truth and knowledge, was confused,
miss Kelly I said, my mum and my aunt have different finger prints. (I had checked this years ago when I was worried one could commit a crime and the other could be framed for it)
She said, yes, because your mum and your aunt are sisters, I'm talking about identical twins.
So I raise my hand again and say 'my mum and my aunt are identical twins'
She said that was the end of class and we'd pick this up next lesson. (we did not)
Next lesson we're doing punnet squares and sex linked genes. The lesson is ending with "which is why you'll meet plenty of colourblind men, but you'll never meet a colourblind woman"
'miss, my mum is colour blind'
'oh! So your mum and her 'identical twin' are colour blind!? You know that your saying your grandfather is colourblind? And just so happened to meet your gran who has the colourblind gene? Is that what your saying!? '
Me, not recognising that this is not a good hill to die on and just stating facts,
Yes
Miss Kelly made me stand outside for the rest of the lesson and shockingly didn't apologise to me after the worlds shortest call to my mother about my 'poor behaviour'
