Making a Difference (Communities)
Making a difference is one of the keys to a successful, happy life that you can be proud to live. From a Christian perspective, that’s one of the best things you can do. The benefits reach farther than we can imagine in the lives of everyone involved. By spending your time making a difference in the life of another person, you’re relieving loneliness and boredom in your own life, and changing the whole world for the better, for someone else.
Is it possible that you’re lonely? I know I was. Or, feel like you’re not accomplishing anything in your life now-a-days? I know I felt stagnant. How about going to your local nursing home to volunteer to read out loud to a blind person who would definitely appreciate it, or maybe take one of the many free classes offered in most communities these days to bring structure to your life, expand your knowledge base, and quite possibly make a new friend? Once the class is over, could you become an instructor? Wouldn’t that be an accomplishment! You could teach people in your same or similar situation, giving special attention to those who feel they need the extra help. Since you had just taken the class, you’ll know what areas are the most difficult and can spend extra time on those specifically.
It certainly doesn’t have to be that drastic either, babysitting for the young couple across the street from you, so they can have a night out together, away from the new baby or adopting a puppy or kitten possibly. Helping others is the best way to help yourself. That is true, just keep your eyes open to the possibilities and don’t get in over your head.
Introduction Part 2: Healthy Habits in Him
Good morning.
I decided that this, the second of my lifestyle pages, needed to continue from the first as though there were no spaces in between. So here goes:
As we find ourselves in different situations, our bodies naturally cope with the stressors that we encounter daily and usually without us even noticing. There are times, however, that our natural systems are overwhelmed by the contaminants in the environment, such as the things we eat and drink, as well as over the counter and prescription medications, all of which put us under more and more stress. When that stress mounts with anxiety and other physiological reactions to our being overwhelmed, we can easily become depressed. Don’t get me wrong, depression at different times in our lives is natural, normal and not necessarily bad for our overall health. I’m talking about when that depression has actual physical symptoms that affect our quality of life. This type of depression doesn’t go away with a change in seasons, or a nice vacation. We sometimes need to talk to someone about what’s going on in our lives; otherwise, that depression can become severe and is coupled with other physiological symptoms, such as high blood pressure and diabetes. It’s not that we are weak; far from it! These type of debilitating symptoms are caused by trying to “stay strong” for too long. I should have sought help for my troubles much sooner! If this is where you are, Please, Please, Please seek help! It doesn’t need to be a family member or your pastor. It can be these, or just a friend. But sometimes, when things have gone unaddressed for this long, it’s easier to talk to someone who has no knowledge of you or your situation.
This is where I started, and I’m not ashamed to admit it; I needed help. If you could see me now, you wouldn’t recognize the difference in me from then to today. I am here to tell you that there is light at the end of the tunnel. There is a God, miracles do still happen and I’m living proof! Check back for the next installment to see what happened next and to learn how you can help yourself or others around you that might be in a similar situation. You can make the difference.
Introduction: Healthy Habits in Him
As the premier page of my blog, I thought that we should get to know one another. So, here we go. I am now 48 and recently came to the realization that I need to change my life or suffer the imminent consequences; namely death by the age of 50. I know most of the people reading this will in no means be in such a dire straight, but I would like to share with you my story. Frankly, I had pretty much given up on life. I was around 120 pounds overweight with little hope of being able to exercise that away. I had such severe medical conditions that my medicine cabinet wouldn’t hold all my prescribed medications for a single month, and I had lost any will to continue on the way that I was. I remember waking up early one morning and realized that it was getting bright outside and I began to cry, upset with God for having allowed me to awaken to yet another day. How could He, an omniscient being, not see the pain and anguish that I was going through? How could He leave me here to face yet another day filled with the pain I had and the lack of desire to live? Why couldn’t He just take me home?
That was where I started from, not that long ago. It was in the winter of 2013-14. I have found, again, the will to live, lost a decent portion of that weight, and begun the road to real recovery, where God is the center of my life. Yes, I’m still overweight and have pain, but now God has me on the journey to becoming the woman He wanted me to be all along.
Healthy lifestyles aren’t just about diet and exercise, but being the best you can possibly be: In mind, body and spirit. My journey is going to be on display for you, and that will be the content of my blog. Pick up those nuggets that you feel that you can incorporate into your own life, and use them to gain a healthier, happier life that is pleasant to you and glorifies God!
May God so richly bless you that you have no choice but to share!
-Evelyn
Éljétek át a táncot, ne csak csináljátok!
Buddha Stretch
II. Street Dance University Day two
12:00-15:00 – Balogh-Barta Viktória „MizVee”, a Hip Hop International Hungary technikai igazgatójának prezentációja (HHIH Elméleti Oktatás)
Imádom a lockingot! :D
II. Street Dance University Day one
12:00-15:00 – Balogh-Barta Viktória „MizVee”, a Hip Hop International Hungary technikai igazgatójának prezentációja (HHIH Elméleti Oktatás)
