This week in 1981, the REO Speedwagon LP “Hi Infidelity” went to #1 again on the US Billboard 200 Albums Chart (May 16)
The album spent 15 non-consecutive weeks at #1 (only 27 albums, and only 7 rock acts, have spent at least 15 weeks at #1).
The band’s ninth studio album went on to become the biggest-selling album of 1981 in the US, and of the four singles released, "Take It on the Run" went to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, and REO Speedwagon got their first of two #1 hits with "Keep On Loving You".
“Hi Infidelity” also went on to peak at #1 in Canada, #6 in Australia and the UK, #7 in the Netherlands, #17 in Norway, #18 in Germany, and #34 in New Zealand.
