Iris

For the first time in a very long time, I'm writing an OC. This is Mickey x Iris.

This takes place before the events of Monday. For @redhead-wine-and-literature-club Love In Bloom Challenge - the flower is Iris which represents "royalty, wisdom, respect" - none of which work for Mickey so meet my OC. In researching the flower I learned that Iris is the Greek word for rainbow and also the name of the goddess of rainbows. So, here we are!

Warnings: slight violence, language and allusions to alcohol use, but this will be a continuing series that will contain adult content - my blogs are 18+ spaces always.

It's crowded and sweaty on the dance floor, the beat echoing through the bodies of the dancers, young and carefree. Mickey's not sober, not by a long shot, the tequila and who knows what else humming through his veins as he does his job like second nature. An endless party. This is why he'll never leave.

A scuffle catches his attention - the back of a blonde head facing him as he sees the girl throw a punch and the guy isn't backing down. Mickey dives off the platform behind the DJ booth and wades through the crowd, putting himself between the asshole and the girl just as the bouncers grab the guy to throw him out.

"Are you okay?" Mickey's looking at her hand first, surveying the damage, before he looks up into her face - and everything stops.

Her blue eyes are rimmed with purple and pink eyeshadow, and even flashing in anger he can see that he could drown in them and be grateful. The confetti from the ceiling is stuck to her heated skin and she sparkles, like magic. The words leave his lips before he can think to stop them.

"You're beautiful."

She blinks, a little stunned, but then her anger melts as she looks at him.

"Thank you - for that, and for coming to help me, even though I could have taken him!" She's a little firecracker, and Mickey can't help but laugh, leading her toward the bar.

"I'm sure you could. C'mon, let's get some ice for your hand."

She lets him hold her hand, icing her knuckles for her.

"I'm Mickey," he leans forward to say his name in her ear, the music in the club louder now that the other DJ is on.

She moves closer and does the same. "Hi Mickey. I'm Iris."

Mickey doesn't know too many words in Greek but that one, he does. "An actual goddess in the club, wow... no wonder you're such a fighter."

It's flirty, and she laughs, rolling her eyes a little. "Yes, yes, I'll pretend I've never heard that before." But she's smiling, and staying with him, telling him about studying abroad for her last year of grad school. She's young but smart, and tough, and beautiful - she has her whole life ahead of her and he doesn't want to tell her his story of how he ended up here, not yet. He just wants to stay with her, as long as he can.

"Do you wanna go somewhere quieter, maybe get a drink?" He asks, holding his breath and afraid she'll say no.

But she smiles, and the light radiating from her knocks the air out of his lungs. A goddess.

"Yes - let's go."

What’s your “sole” routine? Haha! What sort of regiment caused you to get them that strong? (for a beginner of course.) Mine are stronger, but I have followers who are just starting out on their tough sole journey. Walking on hot coals is always the end goal (I feel nothing.)
