In order to ensure that no one else slips in front of Magnus, they—Dr. Carstairs & Dr. Branwell decide to inform everyone else of this decision.
“You’re asking us to lie to Magnus.” Izzy calls out across the room. “We’re just supposed to what? Agree to that?”
Dr. Branwell inhales a breath, “It’s been a few overwhelming days for him. Every piece of new information he receives is stressing and confusing him some more. This isn’t about lying or not—it’s about Magnus’s well-being.”
“Well,” Catarina interrupts. “He has taken all of it pretty hard, didn’t speak to us for the first few days, he’s so out of it.” She avoids Alec’s gaze and he feels a little betrayed by her stance. He expects Cat to be on his side at the very least.
“In order for this to work, we all need to be on the same page. If Magnus gets the information from the wrong person, it could make things worse.”
Alec wonders if he’s considered the right person or the wrong person.
“I want a second opinion,” his voice is clear across the room. Even the implication of it.
“Alec—” Jem starts but Alec raises his hand, “No. You stood in front of me a month and a half ago and told me that there is nothing more that can be done and we should let him go.”
“Alec—” It’s Cat this time, but Alec brushes her off and continues, “I signed off on the papers to pull life support off of him and three weeks later, he woke up. I had to sign those papers,” he’s not screaming but he might as well be, it would be easier for everyone. “Not you. I had to do it. And I will have to live with my decision for the rest of my life so forgive me if I don’t believe your bullshit anymore.
