so i was hoping u can help me understand something i'm confuddled with, and i really don't get. hidan is sadistic and seems not to care for others but on a lot of hidan fan blogs here on tmblr isee ppl talking about how he feels others pain? i kno thats a part of his faith, but really? hidan has no empathy, empathy certainly doesnt look like that. Then in fanfictions kakuzu criticizes hidan for not truly understanding others' pain nor what death really is.

I will Talk about what is Normal and Empathy to Hidan
First of all,I agree with you on many levels, I won’t sugar coat Hidan ,he is definetly a sadist and definetly won’t care about others(emotionally).I love him in this way ,and that’s why I can’t stand most of his pairs.(loathe is a right word.)He will kill them if he will find a chance.Hidan could hardly bond with people.(he prefers to kill them lol)
Do you agree with me if I say he adores Jashin-sama? yes,he worships! <3
There is a canon thing that his jutsu is about ‘sharing the pain’ so he is definetly sharing the physical pain with others,he WANTS to share.
AND moreover he only attacks to take opponent’s blood (like yugito’s fight )a guy who adores massacre,never does massacre without hurting himself. Even Shikamaru stated that his styche is designed only to draw blood.
So why he also harms himself? and why he left victim half dead even if it’s against jashinism?
He could just injure her WITHOUT using the rituel,he is immortal afterall it’s not like Yugi could kill him,he had Kakuzu by his side.In this way he wouldn’t have to sin in order to capture her alive.
so why he did a rituel on her?
it’s against his moral code,he NEEDS to share the pain,he can’t attack if he wouldn’t feel the same pain.(and for akatsuki’s sake captured her alive)
Where do we see the very similar example?
(ah yes killing a priest is a big sin as he stated,then why use ritual?)
He goes against his precious Jashin-sama again….only..ONLY because he has to share the pain!(and for kakuzu )
I think pain is his way to touch with humanity.I know; it sounds very morbid but I totally think Hidan wants to understand empathy in his own way.Pain is a part of life and he is aware of that.His religion is %100 about sharing the pain.
He doesn’t randomly kill people,he kills himself while killing them. YET he still sins more, because he always uses ritual ;killing without feeling the pain is against his morbid moral code.and when it comes to physical pain that’s why I am sure he understands others pain very well.
His difference from us is; he thinks pain is a part of life and he embraces it,he doesn’t escape.Hidan is actually very deep character if you look further.
this is very strong to me,here I talked about how he sinned for Akatsuki’s sake and for Kakuzu’s sake, he actually cares about them more than jashin. ;) (which means a looot)
(my rant will get too long if I talk about this more) but basicly he wishes to die.His greatest wish.
Althought he hates pain,HE WISH to understand death and he actually dies and feels pain everyday.
(I will prob rant more about this later)
oh and,I don’t talk about fanfictions …like you say it’s FANfiction. I only talk about Kishimoto’s Hidan.(and Akatsuki-Gakuen ‘s )
