The books are tired of being touched and would like to be left alone, in the back corner, unseen and un-fingered. Their words are brittle, from hungry gazes and their spines, cracked, from being held by careless hands bending them back… against tables, against chairs; with scars etched in margins never to be read. They’ve been left to suffocate, in tainted sacks, coerced into entangled trysts, in the roots of trees, leaving scars in their backs whilst brought to their knees; with words left unsaid.
