my tournament makeup

inspired by @p0stings​ and largely cruelty free bc I’m vegan (I’m pretty sure it’s all vegan, but if not please let me know!!! I’ve been trying to be really attentive when buying products to make sure they’re cruelty free with vegan ingredients)

No matter what, I am ALWAYS wearing a full face of makeup at tournaments. At the Reno tournament this year, I was woken up at 5am and forced to leave my house because it was almost burnt down and I still had a full face of makeup on and got 1st place in senate that tournament. 

I have OILY skin. The only way I can keep my foundation on all damn tournament, especially on saturdays, is to use a primer and a powder. My favorite primers are Angel Veil by NYX ($16 Target/Ulta) or the Too Faced Hangover Rx Primer ($32 sephora/ulta). I love the Flower foundation ($10 walmart) but I’ve been trying the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation ($40 sephora) and it STAYS ON! But it oxidizes so make sure to try before you buy. My all time favorite setting powder is the NYX Stay Matte Not Flat powder ($10 Target/Ulta) I also have bad acne so I use the green NYX HD Concealer ($5 target/ulta) and the Maybelline Fit Me concealer ($7 any drugstore) and Maybelline Age Rewind concealer ($9 any drugstore) for under my eyes, set with the light side of the Wet n Wild contour palette in dulce de leche ($4 any drugstore)

Bold brows are a must because my brows are already bushy and I refuse to over-pluck them. I use the NYX micro brow pencil ($10 Target/Ulta) and NYX Tame and Frame brow pomade ($8 target/ulta) and set with NYX tinted brow mascara ($7 target/ulta) (all in espresso) Lately I’ve also loved the Essence brow mascara, the darker color ($3 target/ulta)

For eyeshadow I stick to my Lorac Pro 3 palette ($44 ulta) and use the Lorac Behind the Scenes eye primer that came with it. I also love the NYX prismatic shadow singles ($6 ulta), and the Wet n Wild quads ($4 any drugstore)

For mascara I love the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara ($23 sephora/ulta), I’m using a mini which came in a set I bought. I also like the Urban Decay Perversion mascara and the Benefit Roller Lash mascara, both of which I have minis! I hate buying full size mascaras because they expire before I use them up, and $20+ on something I can’t finish really sucks

My all time favorite liquid eyeliner is the Kat Von D tattoo liner in trooper ($20 sephora). It gives me a crisp wing and stays all day, worth the price and it’s lasted me like 3 months which other eyeliner pens simply don’t - and I use it every single day

I wear false lashes, my favorites are the Ardell 110′s because they look extremely natural on my and they’re $3 a set, or less especially at Sally Beauty Supply when they have sales. My favorite lash glue is the blue Duo glue, but I’m waiting to try the House of Lashes glue because it’s supposed to be fantastic

My favorite blushes are the Wet n Wild Coloricon blushes ($3 any drugstore) and the Tarte 12-hour Amazonian Clay blushes ($28 sephora). For bronzer I’ve been using a sample of the NARS Laguna bronzer and it’s fantastic, and I like the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer ($12 any drugstore). For contour I use the Wet n Wild Contour Palette in dulce de leche ($4 any drugstore). For highlight I use the Wet n Wild Fergie highlighter in rose champagne glow ($4, limited edition so I think you have to buy online)

Carmex is the ultimate chapstick. For tournaments I wear liquid lipsticks because I’m not taking the chance that it gets on my teeth in the middle of a speech, and I just don’t want to bother having to touch it up. The NYX lip liners ($6 target/ulta) are my favorite, and I like the NYX Liquid Lingerie lipsticks ($7 target/ulta). I usually wear red or brown lipstick, both on the day to day and at tournaments

For tools, I use the classic pink beauty blender ($20 sephora) but I like it just as much as the orange sponge from Real Techniques ($7 any drugstore). All of my brushes are Real Techniques, Wet n Wild (the new white collection), Elf, Target Up and Up sets, or Sonia Kashuk

yesterday I volunteered to be a judge for a debate competition for a local high school here in Boston. as I walked through the school and interacted with the students I was judging, I heard multiple students use the phrase, "I am not a quitter, I don't quit" very emphatically and I was so touched and inspired by it. you've got these city kids, all different creeds and colors, and even if some may not "feel the struggle" personally, they see it in their peers and their friends. some of them had to work two jobs before coming to compete for their debates, and they certainly didn't have to "talk smart" to prove that they were once it was their time to shine and lay down their games. I told every single student that I spoke with that they are the better part of this generation, and they should be proud in choosing to engage in something as socially-inclined and intellectually rigorous as debate. power to them. \/

first forensics tournament of the season was yesterday. it went pretty well. made it to finals in farrago and took 4th. overall our team took third. pretty good start to the season i believe :)
