I feel like I'm taking charge of my life in a different way than I ever have. I'm only taking steps in the direction of my purpose. I'm only entertaining relationships that are healthy and meaningful. My daughter is happy, my mother is happy, I spent all night in conversation with my bb cousin @indigo.badu , I also got some FaceTime action with my grandparents. My worries are few and far between. The (#yoga) practice is starting to show itself in my life and I am in love with the process. I can't wait to see what goodness this week holds for me. The energetic work needed for self-love involves going down and dirty with all your traumas, your hang-ups, the hurt you’ve experienced, and the hurt you’ve given, and even amidst that – to accept, forgive, and release yourself.

It is self-love that is unconditional, radical, fearless, and without judgment. It is self-love that transcends beyond your past mistakes, blunders, and errors. When we begin to love ourselves, we begin the process of establishing a connection to our Higher Selves.

Our Higher Self is always waiting for us to reconnect. It wants us to reach out so that we may be guided as we navigate the beauty and the complications of life here on Earth.

But how do we actually reconnect with the most Divine iteration of ourselves? The answer is SELF-LOVE.

As surprising as it may sound, loving ourselves is the first step to reconnecting with our Highest Self, but this is not self-love that is often depicted by the media. This is not the kind of “self-love” that mostly consists of pampering yourself or treating yourself to something material.

There is a certain boldness in the collaborative efforts of these two spiritual life coaches as they lay claim to assist you in your quest for the awakened conscious life. The two use their own experiences as they left behind lackluster jobs and flipped their passion projects into their dream occupation. The book is pretty encompassing in guiding you on how to let go of all the things which stand in your way from becoming more intimate with the universe. Spoiler alert: it’s you. You are standing in your own dang way. So stop it! That’s a bit of an oversimplification for the book as it explores multiple facets going in depth on how to work through them. The topic of ego is a recurrent along with other themes such as surrendering, forgiveness and vulnerability.  The expectation as I went into this book was it would be a fresh take on the modern spiritual awakening movement, and about twenty pages in I realized ultimately this was a self-help book. The book appeals to newbies and those who may need center themselves if they’ve strayed from their path and need to come back to the light. So everything from lightworkers to anyone wanting to live a more mindful existence. It is geared towards those trying to make a paramount shift away from heavy emotional self-chatter…
