It turns out that if you make a modest donation towards Scottish wildlife conservation, you can “buy” a square foot of land and be named a Lord (Laird = landowner) or Lady. For Christmas, I gave my husband a lordship, given his enjoyment of Scottish whisky, and we can plan to travel to the Highlands in post-pandemic times.
I’ve used Lady M as my online name for many years, and now, I truly am, the Lady M. Given the GoT catchphrase “I’m no lady,” I find the souvenir sticker quite amusing. (alt text: I’m a Lady)
