Today's Photo: "Night Sun" comes courtesy of the Sunshine State (Florida). While visiting friends down in South Beach Miami last March we decided to trek off road a little and take the more adventurous route back to the Gulf Coast. Most people while traveling from the Gulf Coast to the East Coast take the gated Highway 90, what was once renown as Alligator Alley. Highway 41 which is further south is an open stretch of road with very little barrier between you and the various species that live on this 729000 acre preserve. Due to scheduling conflicts and the prevailing night fall (the thought of prowling panthers is motivation to stay out of the dark) we were unable to spend any time exploring the various areas of the preserve but we did get to see a variety of big birds while driving along.
