this weekend i was able to get outside to hike. the weather was promising and the skies were clear. c and i made our way towards tillamook to go to cape meares state park. we intended to go on the lighthouse hike but we’re not aware of the tides. the high tides prevented us from doing the entire hike. we made it towards the beach before we had to turn around.
due to the recent rain the trail was muddy. this caused some problems with ruby as she was ready to charge forth when we were not. on the way back we had a run in with some irresponsible and disrespectful dog owners who did not have their dogs on leashes. their dogs then became aggressive towards ruby, while she tried to be a good girl. she is not the best with other dogs but she tried to handle herself well in this situation. the owners seemed careless of the fact that their dogs had come at c and ruby and ignored us when c reminded them about the leash laws. this is why you need to respect leash laws and other dog owners. the trails need to be safe for everyone, animals included.
afterwards we drove to the lighthouse and explored the area. the lighthouse is not open in the winter so we weren’t able to go inside. we saw the “octopus tree” which is a giant sitka spruce tree where its branches grow outwards like an octopus. the sun found its way to us by the end of our hike and our exploration. we had intentions for a good five mile hike but since that did not happen we are ready for next weekend.
