a theory.
the more times you’ve watched Haikyuu, the more likely you are to love minor characters.
on your first watch, you support karasuno as they’re your favorite team, but you can’t help but feel kinda bad for the opposing team. furudate showed that both teams have worked hard to move up in the qualifiers, but there can be only one team that can win. good thing that karasuno won the qualifiers.
on your second run you pay more attention to nekoma and seijoh. maybe they even become your new favorite team. iwaizumi… I’m sorry I didn’t notice you ealier. kuroo and yaku acting like old married couple? more please. bokuto and akaashi are steaming hot, how did you not fully appreciate it until now?
on your third watch, you just want every team to win. it’s unfair that the efforts of one team seemingly goes to waste because of one single match. it hurts every time karasuno wins another match. dateko and second/first-year seijoh are really cool. seijoh/dateko/shiratorizawa should have gone to shiratorizawa nationals.
after your fourth and fifth watch, you have pretty much seen everything. you know every name of every single character by heart. season 4 animation style change was more than kind to kinoshita, konoha and washio. kuguri stole your heart with his very enthusiastic reaction to his teammate’s praise just to rip it in half when he cried while numai was comforting him. tsubakihara is lucky that they have such great team spirit bc they would have caught these hands if they had said anything bad about himekawa! excuse me but have you seen yamagata’s and goshiki’s adorable mentor-mentee-relationship? misaki gave johzenji the needed slap on their butt to change the course of their match, however to no avail. let’s hope that towada keeps his promise to himself and to akimiya to take practice and volleyball in general more serious. the way kindaichi is processing his relationship to kageyama in contrast to kunimi is so interesting! I wanna see more. do you think nametsu can dish out like futakuchi if necessary? aran is literally the ace and doesn’t get as much hype as the rest of inarizaki wtf? why don’t kamasaki, moniwa and sasaya just rejoin the club as they obviously have the time to still show up to practice on a regular basis? oh of course, they entrusted the future of the team to their underclassman but a little support from the sideline won’t hurt right?
