My first Clouded Yellow butterfly of the year at St Catherine's Hill, Winchester today, taking my butterfly year list to forty three matching last year's total and 2020's which was my target making my year list my joint third highest ever so this is great and Clouded Yellow is always a stunning and quintessential summer species to see. Other highlights between here and a look at Hill Head today were Silver-spotted Skipper for the second consecutive Sunday which I feel lucky to have had, Chalkhill Blues, Straw-barred Pearl and Common Crimson-and-gold moths to make my moth year list my highest ever with fifty seven seen, Green Woodpecker, Grey Wagtail, Common Terns, Common Sandpiper, Great White Egret, eyebright, clustered bellflowers, fleabane, hemp agrimony and St. John's-wort.
