#hilton #hiltonnewyork #hiltonnyc #hiltonmidtown #newyork #nyc #hotel Hilton midtown NYC this is not how you handle your security and your clients: On September 10, 2017, around 11 pm, I was resting in a room of your Manhattan hotel room waiting for extra blankets. I heard a knock on the door and ran to the door to receive my blankets. To my surprise, there was this homeless person standing in front of the door. Something was definitely wrong. Panicking, I closed the door, but this person put a foot between the door and the frame, and he came inside the room. I was trying to call 911, but he grabbed me. So I ran outside to the corridor towards the info desk on the 37th floor, crying for help, as the stranger following me. NYPD arrived and I asked front desk duty personnel if they caught a guy. He said, oddly in calming tone, "yes, they got a "getleman"." Are you f insane? I didn’t just run away from a “gentleman” who grabbed me and tried to barge into my room. I didn’t call the police for a gentleman who had whatever crime in his mind. He was a mentally unstable homeless guy and got arrested. The security people told me that the Hilton hotel is a public place until 10 pm, and for that matter, anyone can come inside the hotel until then. Well, to my surprise, I didn’t know that Hilton was such an open place for anyone and would negligently let any possible crimes to happen on their premises. Moreover, the incident happened well after 10pm. It was around 11 pm. I wanted a heartfelt apology at the least. All I heard from a meeting with a hotel manager, Carlos, the day after was a bitter, cynical, condescending message: “If you PRETEND to pursue legal measures, I can’t offer you anything.” This is just not acceptable. No. I do not want your 4-day voucher. I don’t want to stay in any of your affiliated lodging spaces that do not have any reasonable security assurances for their guests in any future days. I have this urge for any possible future clients who might choose to stay in Hilton with the presumed expectation of certain services or security measures to know that this is not a place to book for your next leisure or business travels.
