Colours Of the prayer flags, the monks' robes and the warm sweaters stand a stark contrast to everything around. This was especially true as we drove towards Sumdo on the way to Kinnaur from Kaza. The few green patches that we were seeing were replaced with bright brown mountains and equally brown waters of the Spiti river. What also stands as a strong contrast are the road conditions. One moment you are stuck in the middle of several landslides and then suddenly, you are on one of the smoothest roads you've ever been. The reason for this drastic change is clear as you reach Sumdo. We aren't sure which village these apple trees belong to. We had walked up to one of Chango's monasteries.
