An excruciatingly soft late stage found family Himeru + Rinne + Niki scenario

Years after the bees met, maybe even after they've retired from idoling, Himeru's behavior towards his friends can be most succinctly described as 'Tsundere'. Thats not a very respectful way to describe him, but it is accurate. An extreme Tsundere who struggles to accept affection because he lived his entire life believing he was a phantom haunting a body that doesn't belong to him - an intangible being that is both impossible to love and incapable of giving love.

One day, Himeru returns to the appartment he shares with the other bees to find Rinne + Niki passed out on the couch. Niki is laying dead weight on Rinne's stomach like a fish on a ship deck and sputtering adorably silly sleeping breaths. Rinne has a protective hand cupped around the back of Niki's head and is rumbly bear snoring.

Now Himeru is discovering that's not true, thanks to some stupid bees who show him love in their own stupid ways... and make him feel affection in return in the process. They proved he's not an intangible being. He's more than the abuse that programmed him to be 'no one'. He's learning to be himself, and figuring out who 'himself' actually is. Himeru gets a little more comfortable with their casual affection every day, but it's still hard. He flinches when touched unexpectedly, and hesitates every time he gives a casual touch too.

They look ridiculous. And they sound even more absurd. Himeru's expression hardens into a glare. And how are they even pretending that much contact is comfortable? Himeru can't imagine sleeping in those circumstances. It doesn't make any sense to him at all.

But he just keeps staring at them. Like a poorly socialized cat that only knows how to interact by staring unblinking at its owners from the corner of the room.

Himeru takes a seat in a lounge chair across from them, and continues glaring. Not like he has anything else to do other than puzzle over this perplexing pile of his friends' flesh stacked on the couch. They always spend the evenings together when they're free. So he just... waits.

Some time later, Rinne blinks his groggy eyes open to find elegantly poised, crossed legged Himeru coldly glaring him. Rinne shakes away his shock and sneers, "It's pretty creepy to watch people sleep y'know~"

Himeru defensively deflects that claim with a lie about only arriving a couple minutes prior. Niki wakes shortly after and distracts them with babbling about dinner. And they resume their usual antics.

A couple nights later, Himeru is wandering the appartment when he hears a that same chorus of sleeping noises. Silly sputtering breaths and gruff bear snores from behind the closed door of the bedroom Rinne + Niki share.

As if compelled, Himeru cracks open the door and peeks inside. He finds Rinne and Niki in bed lying on their sides. Rinne has both arms latched in a snare around Niki's waist, he's snuggling the smaller bee body with the same voracious affection one would show a squishy stuffed animal. Niki's limbs are out stretched on the mattress as if he spent his final moments of consciousness hopelessly pawing for freedom - but his resting face has a contended smile, and he seems to be sleeping peacefully.

Unfortunately, this time his presence is noticed immediately. Within the shadowy bedroom, two slits of electric eyes creak open, then shift to examine the shaft of light leaking in through the cracked door.

Himeru's glare hardens all over again.

Is this how they behave every night-?

Rinne sees Himeru standing in their doorway - once again watching them sleep.

Himeru gasps, and hurries away.

He hopes Rinne will think it was a dream.

The next night Himeru stumbles exhausted into his own room after a long day. He shoves through the door-

To find it occupied. A second bed has been moved into his room, positioned in the opposite corner from his. And a pair of stupidly grinning bees are sitting up in it.

Niki explains, "We thought you might feel lonely in here all by yourself, but if you want us to leave just say the word and we'll put the stuff back how it was."

Himeru hides his eyes, then concludes, "... This is a logical choice. If we sleep in the same room then we can repurpose the second one for a more effective use of our space. HiMERU approves."

Rinne gives him a knowing grin, "... Right! "Logical". Well gnight, Merumeru!"

The lights go off.

Himeru worries all that noise his friends make will keep him awake the entire night.

Then he has one of the best sleeps he's had in years.

Himeru wakes first. He opens his eyes to his usually empty room and finds Rinne + Niki tangled as usual. Infuriatingly adorable and cozy as a kitten pile.

For illogical reasons he'd rather not process, Himeru pulls his bed about a foot into the room, then departs to go about his business for the day.

The next time Himeru returns to the bedroom, he notes the second bed has moved closer as well while he was gone. It mysteriously mirrored the same amount of movement Himeru made.

About a week later, the two beds have been pushed together.

Niki remarks, "That's weird, when did the beds get so close?"

Rinne + Himeru don't reply.

Niki furthers, "Maybe the apartments haunted? Oh well!" He flops into bed.

The other bees follow. Rinne ends up on his back with Niki curled into his side and drooling onto his chest.

Himeru rolls onto his side and glares at them like a bitter and lost shelter cat.

Rinne offers him his free arm.

Himeru cautiously accepts. He shimmies closer and wraps Rinne's arm in his. Rinne smiles a rare smile devoid of snark or schemes. That smile is the last sight Himeru sees before his eyes slip closed and unconsciousness claims him almost instantly.

A couple weeks later, a glimpse into the bee bedroom finds the blue bee in the middle of a flesh pile. Rinne is curled around Himeru with his cheek now resting on top of his hair and an elbow locked around his throat. Niki is face down on Himeru's stomach with arms tangled around him too. Human pillow Himeru looks damn near smothered by his idiotic friends — and he's wearing an unguarded smile even through the veneer of sleep.
