Watching Himiko finally, and after getting tortured and told he'll be exiled, this guy gets given the worst executed fucking tats I've ever seen; like the rest of this situation sucks, but that tattoo job is just truly unforgivable.

I liked the part with the dude who got Boromir’d.

Himiko is a weird and captivating fable, full of vibrant and gorgeous shots with stunning composition. Set design and costumes were fantastically colourful, performances were wild and riveting, and the soundtrack impressively backed the visuals.

I was particularly fascinated by Shima Iwashita’s performance as Himiko in the throes of her prophetic visions, as well as Tatsumi Hijikata and his Butoh troupe as the otherworldly Mountain People. The tone and structure of Himiko felt like watching a stageplay, perfectly fitting the historical fantasy tale.

A surreal and enthralling movie with a very surprising ending. Thoroughly enjoyable.
