to be clear actually i’m very convinced jason is fully aware he is trapped by the narrative even if he wouldn’t know enough to call it a narrative instead of the universe or fate (which, btw, same difference, but that’s partly me being mentally ill) he still knows something is deeply wrong. he feels doomed. like, this man exited his own narrative and was tossed back in when the narrative needed course correction- he is a fault line a mended crack in the story he lives in. i’m convinced that has consequences such as being too aware yet not quite aware enough. in other words i’m convinced he knows there is no escape. and he hates the narrative for it
