Thanks to my secret santa, I remembered that today starts the giving week for @descendantsgiftexchange. @daggery, I’m your secret santa! Orignally I was gonna do jevie since you said you didn’t mind couples within the Rotten Four but it started to learn more toward Rotten 4 poly couple, hinted mostly. Also, Mal’s sleeping position at the end is actually something me and my cousin’s would do when we’d collapse on the couch and watch TV. Hope you enjoy and happy holidays!
Evie let out a bored sigh. She was waiting for Harry Hook to come back and open his father’s store so she could get a few things, but last she heard he was picking fights again with Mal again, or at least supporting Uma in picking fights with them. she couldn’t complain too much though, being stuck near the docks, it meant she was away from her mother. It was strange, how all of a sudden, their parents were becoming allies. Not friends, they’d all recite to the kids that villains didn’t have friends, but allies, people you’d later stab in the back to get what you want.
That could have been her and Mal if Mal hadn’t saved her life. She would have only ever had allies if she hadn’t met Carlos or if Jay hadn’t been surprisingly sweet under all that swagger. She had friends, after 16 years and it might have sounded like something out of a soppy fairy tale but it felt so good to have them. she just wished there was a place they could hide away that didn’t end up with bumping into the Sea 3 and a fight. Honestly, it was usually Mal and Jay poking at Uma and Harry while she and Carlos talked with Gil. She would speak French to him and she was teaching Carlos, who was picking it up quickly.
“Down by the docks princess?” she looked up to see Jay standing over her, clothes and hair a bit rumpled. Judging from the big smile, he’d won whatever tussle he was in, which meant Harry wouldn’t be in a selling mood.
“You couldn’t wait until after I bought things to piss off Harry?” she asked in reply, getting up and dusting the back of her skirt off. With the odd weather of the Isle, she’d ditched any jacket or cape, the only thing protecting her arms a purposely ragged red pullover. She saw Jay smirking at the colour of it and decided to not say anything.
They got like that at times, seeing the others in their colours. She’d been giddy on the one time the other 3 had been in blue.
“Where’s the fun in that? Hey, come here, I wanna show you something.”
She didn’t get much say when Jay grabbed her hand and pulled her down a path. She felt like reminding him that just because she wasn’t in heels, running in wedges still wasn’t easy. They ended up near the less populated areas with more ware houses. They easily dodged the little kids who ran past, escaping their sticky fingers. She watched Jay after letting go of her hand, do a running jump and yank down the fire escape. He let her climb up the stairs first and she took a moment to look at the land of Auradon just past the barrier, all shiny and perfect.
“Not just here for the views princess. Keep going.” Jay said.
She reached a door, and easily swung it open. It seemed that this warehouse had a loft and it was massive. It was sectioned off in different areas, creating rooms.
“What is this place?”
“Well, it’s really far to go to Carlos’ and his treehouse is only so big for all of us and it’d be nice to have a meeting point after we cause trouble and split up, so.”
Evie looked around. “So this is, our new home?”
Jay shrugged, “I mean, better than sleeping under a shelf.”
An excuse to be away from her mother and with the people she cared about? Absolutely.
“Come on, we need to tell the others. If I’m decorating this whole place, that means you’ll need to play nice with Harry and Uma so I can get stuff first from the boats.” Evie ordered, leading them out of the loft.
“Fine. Heads up though, we’re gonna need to jump on the stairs for them to go down again. Haven’t figured out how to get them to stay still yet.”
“Luckily, we have a Carlos.”

The news of their new home went well. Mal had taken her paints and already started attacking the walls. It took Carlos 2 days to rig the stairs down as well as get Jay to help him make a fence that went up with a rigged sign to help protect their home. The ‘Flying Rocks’ sign might be clue but thankfully their reputation helped ward off any thieves.
Decorating did mean making peace with the Sea Three, which seemed impossible, but Evie did have Gil to thank for giving her a hand in that.
She’d been following Harry around his father’s store, practically begging him to sell her this fabric that would have helped in making pillows. She was determined that Carlos would have all the pillows he wanted.
“Sorry princess.” She tried not to cringe at hearing Jay’s nickname for her leave Harry’s mouth. He’d only continue if only to annoy her more. “No ca’ do. What will Uma do to me is foun’ out?”
“You don’t have to tell her.” She pointed out, knowing that was stupid idea the moment it left her mouth.
“Lie to me captain? Now ye’re really tryin’ to get me gutted. ‘Sides, there ain’t a thing you can offer I want.”
Evie glared, ready to comment when the bell over the door rang loudly, just like the person walking in.
“Hi Harry!” Gil yelled.
“What are ye doing here? Thought you were with Uma.”
“I was, but I made her mad so she threw me out.” Gil answered with a large smile on his face.
Harry shook his head in exasperation when the son of Gaston recognized who was Harry’s costumer.
“Hi Evie!”
“Bonjour Gil.”
“What are you doing here?”
In French, mostly to revile in the confused look on Harry’s face, she explained that Harry wouldn’t sell her the fabric she wanted for their new hideout.
“Harry, why won’t you sell her the fabric? It’s for their home.”
“Excuse me?” Harry asked, seemingly genuinely confused.
“It’s like the Lost Revenge for us. Uma lets you keep the blankets. Come on.”
Harry turned quite red and Evie had to bite her lip to not burst into laughter.
“You want to repeat that?” Harry threatened, holding his hook underneath Gil’s chin.
“Well, technically you do ask for them cause you know Uma likes staying warm and she is always in your room even when you guys try to pretend –”
“Enough!” Evie couldn’t help laughing, stifling it when Harry turned his glare on her, though not as affective with a red face. “Alright, you can have ‘em. But he goes with you and you tell those little menaces to stay away from us or else I’ll gut them then and there. You too.” He threatened Gil, who just smiled ad yanked him in a hug, ignoring Harry’s hissing.
Just as a small thank you, she got the Rotten 4 to leave them alone. It lasted for about a week, but it was the best she could do.
There wasn’t a day where they were like, “Lets move in.” it was just a random day. It was the day the ships for Auradon had come in, Evie had found everything she needed and more, got Mal and Jay to drag it all back to the loft as Carlos was working on a calling system with a pipe and a funnel. They’d worked hard all day and Jay disappeared and came back with the freshest batch of baos from Shan Yu’s store. They were all collapsed on the couch, eating their fill and rest on each other.
Carlos was sprawled out, his head on Evie’s lap and he’d fallen asleep with her hand running through his hair. Evie went next, her head fitting in Jay’s neck, held up by his arm around her shoulder. Mal tried her best but she went right after, her place practically on Carlos in attempts to annoy him but with a pillow on top of his back, he made an interesting yet comfortable bed. Jay was the last one to fall asleep, feeling like this place, was finally there home.
