Introducing Hooks: Programmable customization for Hedera entities
Hedera is consistently evolving to meet the demands of developers and enterprises seeking robust, scalable, and highly customizable distributed ledger infrastructure. From frictionless airdrop mechanisms in HIP-904 to custom monetization programmability in HIP-991, the network has progressively expanded the ways users, developers, and enterprises can tailor native network services to their specific needs.
➤ Hedera introduces 'Hooks' (HIP-1195), a new framework allowing custom logic to be attached to native Hedera entities like accounts and contracts without protocol-level changes. ➤ Hooks enable features such as DEX limit orders without token lockup and business treasury as escrow, enhancing programmability while maintaining self-custody and performance. ➤ This innovation aims to bring smart contract flexibility to Hedera's native services, with future plans for broader application and non-EVM programming models.
