If there's anyone brave and frequently ill out there, you could ask your hospital what their policy on patient data is if ICE comes calling.

Patient information is federally protected by law, INCLUDING immigration status. Revealing ANY patient information to ANYONE without explicit written and properly documented permission by the patient can cost tens of thousands of dollars. At least.

With Musk deep in our data, asking your medical providers about their plans to protect patient privacy is incredibly valid!

The person you're talking to may not know, but their supervisor should! If they can't answer your questions, contact your state's Joint Commission and mention this.

So for those who don't know the Missouri government is trying to get access to trans medical data and the courts said they could have some of it. They argue that having your medical data still means it's private and not going to be shared but i'm sorry there have been to many times in history where people have taken the information and data of marginalized communities and used that to commit exploitation, genocide and hate crimes on any number of people. Even if you think ohh I trust the government think about how many times they've been harvesting our data without us knowing, why would someone you trust need to steal from you? Would you be happy if they sat there and knew what medical treatments you were getting and why? Plenty of nurses and Doctors get fired every year because they learn and share medical records of friends and family to other people proving that even in an industry where people are expected to protect your privacy they don't. Do you really want an extra set of eyes following an agenda to possibly take the data of your friends, family, loved ones and leak it to people who could potentially harm them. Plenty of Transgender individuals are attacked on a daily or weekly basis just for being who they are and mark my words once they come for the trans people and get rid of us then it'll be anyone and everyone else under the rainbow umbrella. Remember people in the government can be good and kind just like any profession but they can also be people like Marjorie Taylor Green who believe in Jewish Space Lasers. Do you really want people like her looking at your medical data?
