I'd have two pennies, which isn't a lot... but still weird it happened twice

Andromeda claiming that Poseidon lost in the end bc at least she freed Ceto and they can be together again rings hollow when you know that he rapes her granddaughter Hippothoe just decades later.

Thinking about Hippothoe rn, she was Perseus and Andromeda’s granddaughter, not their distant descendant but their granddaughter so they likely personally knew her. The wording here is vague which is annoying but its most likely a kidnapping. If anyone knows the original wording and what Apollodorus meant by ‘carried off’ pls let me know.

One has to wonder if this is a less extreme version of Europa’s story, in that a beautiful princess was kidnapped and impregnated by a god and whose child became someone important. But at least here it doesn’t seem to suggest that Hippothoe was completely cut off from her family, after all her grandchildren seem to be in touch with their relatives (for better or worse) perhaps Mestor found her and helped establish Taphos until Taphius came of age?

Not to be a bitch ass hater again but why ​have Poseidon be predatory towards Andromeda when we have at least one source telling us he was predatory towards her granddaughter? Let me tell you I’d be SHOCKED if Hippothoe is mentioned in that retelling bc I highly doubt the author did enough research to know about her.

Being forced to be Poseidon’s consort and bear his child isn’t Andromeda’s trauma, it’s Hippothoe’s.
