Shaman King
A series written and illustrated by Hiroyuki Takei
This story follows a young and cloud headed shaman named Yoh Asakura, who's life goal is to hone his skills as a shaman so that he could win the Shaman fight and become king
This manga has a special place in my heart as it was the first manga and anime that I was introduced to as a kid
The story itself starts off quite slow but keeps the reader wanting to read more due to the stunning illustrations of the manga
From the intricate detailing of each character down to the strokes on each weapon that the characters choose to fight with, Hiroyuki Takei presents a manga in a league of its own
One reason why this manga is quite long is due to the fact that most characters are given their own supporting narrative that usually goes on for more than 3-5 chapters
This attention to character design creates a connection between the reader and the characters
My personal favourite character throughout the whole series is Anna Asakura, Yoh's fiancée and an straight up badass Itako (female shaman)
