Insult to Injury | Ana Lucia & Shannon
Both of her slim hands were pressed up against the heavily bandaged portion of her torso as she gingerly crossed the beach. The pressure helped to ease the pain, or maybe that was all in her head anyway. Walking was both helpful and dangerous; movement enabled her to not feel helpless, but the pain that it induced was nearly unbearable. Shannon was stubborn as hell and sick of sitting on her ass all day "healing". Oddly enough, lying in her bikini under the sun all day hadn't been a problem. After being put on bed rest involuntarily for hours on end, Shannon realized just how much she hated to be stationary.
Each person that passed sent a sorrowful look her way. Poor little Shannon. Her uninviting demeanor kept anyone else from asking how she was doing or offering to help. She was desperate to prove that she didn't need anyone; she could handle herself. Between Boone, Jack - and all of his little nurses, she had enough people nagging her to make sure that she was okay. Shannon stomped a little further down the beach, just to get some space from the band of medics constantly checking her vitals.
The gunshots still echoed in her head now and again. They rang through her dreams and haunted her conscious drifting mind. Her wound had taken her completely off guard at the time; she hadn't been prepared or seen it coming in the slightest. Shannon had never been great at the process of forgiveness, but grudges, now they were her specialty.
All of the memories were faded and mangled; the most that she could recall was blood, lots of it, pouring out of her slim body. Shannon exhaled deeply as a sharp pain tremored through her side, reminding her of the healing wound on her abdomen. No one around her would explain to her the details of how she'd come to receive this injury, which truly was only making things worse.
She could see the dark haired women who'd used her for target practice across the beach. Shannon couldn't quite remember her name; she could barely see her face in the memory reels within her mind. Glaring darkly as she headed to a shady spot beneath the trees, she rubbed the bandages once more.
I hope this doesn't leave a fucking scar.
We're All Just Prisoners Here || Ana Lucia & Juliet
Ana Lucia Cortez.
The name had haunted Juliet's thoughts ever since Ben had mentioned her at their little two-person dinner party, and she couldn't shake the connotation he'd put it under. He'd thought it necessary to inform Juliet that Goodwin was attempting to make a case for this woman, and that he was particularly invested in her. Whether or not he'd made that story up just to try and get her to forget about Goodwin or if he was telling the truth, she really couldn't tell. If it had been a lie, it was grounded on some sense of truth, judging on how casually Ben had acted when he told her.
She'd tried to push the thoughts away so hard, but they clung to her like a persistent infection in her mind. They just wouldn't let go, even after Ben had showed her Goodwin's body. He was gone, she hadn't been able to do anything about it. Then why did this woman's name still haunt her during the quiet hours of the evening?
And then something extraordinary happened. Somehow, Ben and his crew had gotten the drop on Ana Lucia and brought her to the barracks to be locked up there, secluded and bereft of all human contact save for the people who would extract information from her or bring her food and drinks. And it was then that Juliet knew she had to get Ben to let her do the latter. Ben, of course, obliged to Juliet's wish, though he did request for her to carry around a taser at all times and not to enter the woman's holding cell unless she was absolutely sure she'd do her no harm.
And so Juliet set out to bring this woman Ana Lucia her breakfast, with every intention of getting information out of her, one way or another. Goodwin was priority. Food entirely secondary.
