If you have ever wondered about the hype over the Cotmac McCarthy book Blood Meridian ----at once hailed as the greatest historically accurate western ever written, and a novel so gore soaked and violent that all attempts to adapt it into a film have completely failed--- and want to know more before you read, or if you are like me and already know you cannot handle the violence, cruelty, and utter desolation of the novel but still want to know what it is about,

Russian beauty - a diadem made by order of Emperor Nicholas I for his wife Alexandra Feodorovna in 1841. The tiara, imitating the shape of a kokoshnik, was made by the jeweler Carl Eduard Bolin from platinum, diamonds and large drop-shaped pearls.
Early Cycladic marble female figure, Early Cycladic II, (2600–2400 BCE),
The recognition of distinct artistic personalities in Cycladic sculpture is based upon recurring systems of proportion and details of execution. The stylization of the human body that is elegant almost to the point of mannerism is characteristic of the Bastis Master.

Max Reinhardt, he discovered me, so to speak, because he saw one of these recitals, and he said, ‘Well, I don’t know anything about dancing, but this person doesn’t only dance, she acts.’
- Nini Theilade (1912-2018)
Nini Theilade was a Danish ballet dancer, choreographer and teacher. She won wide acclaim for her dancing in the fabled 1935 film version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” then performed with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo during its tour of the United States as World War II was beginning.
Reinhardt put her in the version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” that he staged in England and at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, and then in the film that he and William Dieterle directed. Ms. Theilade was the lead fairy among Titania’s attendants.
The film had a starry, somewhat improbable cast that included Mickey Rooney as Puck, James Cagney as Bottom, Dick Powell as Lysander and, in her first film, Olivia de Havilland as Hermia. Critics differed on whether it succeeded, but virtually everyone agreed that the dancing was a high point, especially Ms. Theilade’s work.
In a 2013 article in The Observer of London, the dance writer Luke Jennings put the fairy ballet at No. 5 on his list of the 10 best dance numbers in film, singling out Nini Theilade.
From 1938-40, she played many leading roles in the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo which were choreographed for her by Léonide Massine. They included Poverty in Nobilissima Visione and Venus in Bacchanale with costumes by Salvador Dalí. She performed as a guest at New York's Metropolitan Opera dancing to Debussy's Clouds.
From 1969 to 1978, she founded a ballet academy in Thurø with a ballet company that toured Europe. She also began her involvement as ballet instructor at Odense Theatre's school which was to last 30 years. After running into financial difficulties at Thurø, she and her second husband, Arne Buchter-Larsen, accepted an invitation to set up a three-year course of study in Lyon, the Académie de Ballet Nini Theilade. She left Lyon in 1990 at the age of 75 to return to Denmark where she continued to be active in drama and dance productions.[2] In particular, she was to work for a further 20 years as dance instructor at Oure Folk School on the island of Funen. She died on 13 February 2018 at the age of 102
'If any of [my stories] succeed in causing their readers to feel pleasantly uncomfortable when walking along a solitary road at nightfall, or sitting over a dying fire in the small hours, my purpose in writing them will have been attained.'
"Two ingredients most valuable in the concocting of a ghost story are the atmosphere and the nicely managed crescendo.'

should i be mad and sad at myself for literally being horrible and not writing and essay and saying all about alexander hamilton and it not being that long cause i’m tried and i have to turn it next period and just finished my exam like i think it’s okay but also i’m sorry alexander hamilton would not be proud and probably yell at me but i do love writing i just am tired and such but he wrote like 53 pages for the federalist papers and now i feel i have failed him so i’m sorry but EXAMS KILL ME
Anon you should be proud of yourself. I’m proud of you. And Alexander Hamilton would be grinning from ear to ear to hear how you completed an essay and an exam in a short amount of time.
I know for a fact Alexander Hamilton would not scream at you, he would be proud of you that you wrote an essay after a stressful exam. That bitch would be 110% impressed with you—just as much as me. Anon, don’t be so hard on yourself. What matters is that you did it and you got it done. Do you know how hard it is to be a writer? I stare at the ceiling for hours trying to come up with ideas. Writing is hard.
Also Alexander Hamilton wrote 49 essays in six months but that’s because he had to deal with a bunch of dipshits who couldn’t write their name on snow let alone on paper. (Can you imagine if Ben Franklin wrote them? No offense to Ben but that bitch would put a dick joke in the papers....legit....) This bitch (Alexander Hamilton) also advocated for children to have childhood to enjoy for his own kids to have—that he was robbed of. He did want his kids to be well educated but not enough that it killed them. He wanted his children to succeed, not bleed.
Anon, I wish you the best of luck on all your finals and hope you know I’ll be thinking positive vibes to send your way. Do your best to prepare and be ready to eat the exam. (Please do not eat the exam paper, your body will be angry at you.)
Thank you for this lovely ask anon! I hope it goes well and I hope I hear from you soon. Best of luck to you with exams!
(The sane applies to everyone else going through exams. Best of luck!!)
