It was unfair of her to resent Harry for this arrangement. And yet, she resented him all the same. Perhaps because she had heard it from Lady Parkinson, of all people. Or because she felt betrayed, while knowing perfectly well that she had no right to feel this way. He was a friend, and besides, she had no dowry, no titles, nothing.
Hermione supposed she was really mad at herself for feeling like this. For caring so much about him. For being jealous of the girl he was going to marry.
"When were you going to share the news of your engagement?" she asked in place of a greeting, her voice cold and biting. "I would have congratulated you properly." It was easy to tell that she was not sincere -in fact, her words were dripping with sarcasm.
