Perhaps Ash has never visited to the abandoned building currently arcing overhead as he and Georgie explore in person, yet the somewhat blurry photographs online appeared promising throughout his brief preliminary research. They hadn’t disappointed, either: the old home was more akin to a mansion in size, with carved pillars, vaulted ceilings, and a sprawling brick fireplace that looked as if it had been snatched from a period film ( if it wasn’t crumbling and coated with dust, that is ). The decrepit parlor garners a majority of his attention, offering fascinating angles and curves to sketch as sunlight filters in between the spaces of the boards on the windows. In truth, the sights already leave him with curious anticipation of how she might photograph them. However, it’s the roof which had piqued Ash’s interest most greatly as they’d initially approached. How far could someone see over the city from up there, anyway? Perhaps the shingles would prove a challenge to navigate footing on, though the notion doesn’t particularly deter him.
Of course, the entire endeavor would be simpler if only he still possessed the ability to fly up to the top, but as they say, ‘ necessity is the mother of invention, ’ and he’ll dismiss the idea when he’s dead. It had been obvious from the outside that a window in the attic would lead them straight to the roof, no fucking fuss. Whether it’s coincidence or the sheer fact that Ash wants it so much which leads the door to the attic to prove locked upon trying it, he doesn’t necessarily wish to ponder. “Shit.” The curse leaves his lips with a huff. So much for the easy access the internet had assured him he’d find. Still, Ash isn’t dead yet, which entails the aforementioned invention.
Turning to Georgie, a grin curves his mouth to punctuate a shrug of his shoulders. “We could always try to pick the lock, but — ” Then, he takes a few steps back before aiming two kicks: one just above the tarnished doorknob, and another beneath it. Due to the age, it swings in on its hinges far quicker than most. “This is faster.” Shifting to face her more fully, Ash beckons to the threshold. “Might find some interesting stuff in the attic, too, you never know.”
