A couple nights ago I was asked, “What’s your secret, Los?” (regarding my weight loss) I answered, “No secret. Keto centric nutrition, water 💦 and dancing”. But my mind kept thinking on it because that’s what I do ... overthink! 💭 I’ve been here before, I’ve done that before (eat right, work out, etc) and been successful. I concluded that my secret weapon is a sense of T.E.A.M. and community. (stole the acronym from my friend) You see, my sister supports me by forwarding #instagram keto recipes and cooking them, my warehouse full of co-workers kept / keeps me food consumption accountable by asking questions and monitoring what I eat in the break room, my dance partner @rightonwhatever meets with me 3-4 times a week, and lastly @chelseypleasant + #HITfam encourages me even though I’m self motivated. I don’t need the encouragement, but it doesn’t hurt. What I’m indirectly saying is Together Everyone Achieves More (T.E.A.M.) Influential leaders such as myself have a halo effect in their communities. For example, I receive offline texts, emails, side bar conversations about fitness, nutrition etc. It’s a way for them to connect and relate to me. My Dad’s sage advice to me as a child, “Son, you’ll find out real quick who likes you and who doesn’t by simply wanting to talk to you, and who doesn’t.” . . . My secret to success, you ask? It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes a community to maintain adult weight loss.
