Trembling, Matt balled those hands into tight fists, then put them up, ready to fight. Sweat already beaded on his brow. He could tell he was on the edge of a heat, so all he wanted to do was get the hell out of there.

He sat bound crudely to a chair. Beaten, broken and utterly defeated beyond what he’d ever admit. Matt sneered at the assassin’s taunts, but didn’t bother to lift his head. “How sweet. Do you got a scrapbook for this shit?” he snapped, then struggled anew, trying to tip himself over for a chance to escape.
