Rainy Day
When you live in Portland you learn to carry something water proof with you. Be that a rain jacket or an umbrella. And in his case it’s both. Walking along beneath a bright umbrella cast in a multicolored array of coffee beans, as the rain comes down in sheets. It’ll be clear by the afternoon probably, which means rainbows. And he can’t wait to get a picture or three on his way home later. But for now he picks his way around large puddles, until he reaches his destination. The bus stop.
Brown eyes shift up from the sidewalk. Where he’d been watching his step because days like this could easily see him ending up on his back side and not quite as dry as he would like. And it doesn’t take him long to notice the other individual standing beside him. They look a little lost in thought, and not one bit bothered by the fact they’re soaked through.
There’s a few seconds of debate but eventually he shifts the umbrella over and up, to cover them more than himself. His jacket is water resistant, his back pack too. And to be perfectly honest they look like they could use a little kindness. If not a break from the day all together.
Tristan digs into his pocket and pulls out a hard candy, holding it out to them with a small smile. It’s not coffee but it’s the next best thing that helps him when he’s feeling down. So maybe it will help them.
