How do you know that your house makes you sick?
A healthy living environment is a key element in a well balanced life. But how to create it. We hardly care sign of unhealthy living space that brings in unlimited miseries in our lives. The house where you love to spend time confirms that it is a healthy and a beautiful house.
Higher Humidity
The home with a higher level of humidity, can house molds. With higher humidity levels, the home makes an environment where mold spreads at the back of the walls. The mold is the source of multiple health issues, ranges from chronic sinusitis to the damage of the nervous system. High humidity also brings in dust mites that cause stomach issues, allergic reactions, and sleep disorders.
Purchase humidity monitor for measuring the humidity level and purchase dehumidifier. Keep open the door and windows for few hours.
Dust
Not only is dust a nuisance, but also it carries irritating dust mites that can disrupt eyes as well as nasal passage. These also put stress on the immune system, making it weak over time. Dust carries dirt and particles outside of the home which can contain pesticides and herbicides that are potentially toxic to the nervous system.
Use vacuum with clear filter to minimize the spreading of dust. Wash bedding, drapes etc, regularly.
Water damage
Any kind of outflow of water like leaky windows, or basement flooding, water flowing inside can significantly minimize the health of the home. Only proper cleaning would prevent the damage or leak and keep away mold.
Take care of the all the leakage points or any other sources that allows the water come it.
Tightly sealed homes
The energy-efficiency movement is in full-blast, it suggests that many of the houses are sealed ultra-tight, putting off any kind of outdoor air from reaching the within. While this may be great for energy bills, but with a great potential health problem. When the inmates of the houses use a furnace or an air conditioner, it isn't pulling in air from outside. It is important for us to ventilate the homes properly.
Bottom line
It's important to correspond to our indoor environment. Just as you can’t expect an apple to be fresh in a wet paper box full of worms, similarly we shouldn't wait for staying healthy in a toxic environment.
