This week has been interesting.
Malok, the pride of Oryx
For those who either don't remember or didn't play destiny 1, Malok was the main antagonist of the April update ( a free content drop to hold players over until rise of iron). Malok sought to claim the Taken throne after the death of oryx, we stopped in him in the blighted chalice strike.
Malok is interesting for a few reasons, him being a taken with some will left, seen by him trying to become Taken King, his name being one of the few hive words with a message Malok meaning my poison, and him being a son of savathûn.
And now after some many years he's mentioned again, as a relic.
One that's used alongside these disciples of Malok that try to find the echo of navigation to savathûn's throne world.
It's interesting that it's his head that's the relic for two reasons, the first being that his head was a hunter helmet that dropped from the blighted chalice strike.
And two it implies he is properly dead because normally when a taken dies it gets dragged back to the ascendant plane( I might be wrong about this because I can't find the source of this)
Which makes sense for him not being fully taken and keeping a bit of his will.
While I'm interested in seeing how his relic head may be used to help sloane
I'm more interested in savathûn's reaction, it's too raw and honest, she's upset with us taking the head of her son, it feels weird for her, like she loves Malok so much. Maybe oryx is right about her acting in earnest and predictable, because will knew she would try this, Malok being involved was a surprise, but it wasn't some great trick of plot. Maybe she loves her Family so much, her nature is lost. After all she swore to always follow her nature Infront of the worm gods and she isn't exactly on great terms with them.
