"Darrix?" Peixe called out to her heart's friend, her voice very quiet. "Darrix~"

There was a note of amazement in her voice, as if she'd seen the lighthouse.

The Exo-Hive doesn't look up from their workbench immediately, but at the second cl of their name, he finally looks up.

Mismatched green gold eyes soften and widen at the sight of their Warlock friend, and Darrix strides across the room, clasping her shoulders in two warm, metal hands.

"Peixe! Oh my god, hi! It's been so long, how are you??"

Peixe hugged him tight.

"I---I didn't know who else to go to." she said, "I'm...the Vanguard....I don't know what they'll say. Spider gave me something, Darrix."

"Oh??" Darrix returns the hug, but steps back a bit at the mention of Spider. "Was it another stolen engram?"

Something brushed against him.

A tiny, three-fingered hand grasped his digits.

Peixe froze as the runt youngling on her back let out a chitter, her eyes locked onto Darrix face to guage his reaction.

Darrix blinks at the feeling of tiny fingers on his hand, but they don't pull away.

"Oh..!" The Exo falls quiet, leaning in just a bit to coo at the smallen, wrapped up in eggsilk on Peixe's back. "Oh my goodness, they're so cute! Have you decided on a name??" No questions asked, just happy acceptance.

"Spider just, dumped them on you?"

"No, this wasn't----it wasn't a dumping!" Peixe protested, "It was an 'entrusting!' We had a moment."

she blew out a breath, shifting the carrier to her front so she could press her face into the top of the little ones swaddled head.

"I'm thinking of calling them Arach."

She should've known Darrix wouldn't question it.

"Darrix, I have to tell someone. Maybe talk to Drifter---he'll know if we should talk to the Vanguard or not. What do you think?"

"I..think Drifter would be more likely to suggest cooking the little one then do anything responsible. What about Zavala? He knows what its like to want to have kids, i think he'd understand. Especially now that we're allied to House Light and all."

Darrix gently taps metal fingers along Arach's hands and arms. "Arach's such a cute name, i like it! You told Avrok yet?"

Arach seemed fascinated by the exo, their six eyes wide and wondering as they followed the trail of his hands.

Peixe paled.

"Holy shit I completely forgot about Avrok!" She clamped a palm to her forehead, then pushed her hair out of her face. "What if he doesn't want them? I don't---"

She was beginning to breathe heavily.

I was thoroughly enjoying reading this, then this line hit me and I actually laughed out loud and proceeded to snickering ruthlessly because I knew *exactly* where this is going and I know exactly how I'd write Avrok in this scenario 😆
