Hello! I saw some art about a legundo hive mind au and I am a big fan of both Legundo and hivemind's. But I can't find anything more on it, can you ramble about it to me if you have time? thanks <3

this got much longer than I expected, so I have tossed most of it under a cut lol. Have fun!

Hivemind Legundo is a collaborative au between myself and other members of a scenario smp server!

It started as a series of rambles in a (seperate) watch party server, then got copied over so more than the... 6? of us in there could talk about it.

It has spawned at least 5 sub-aus of varying degrees of detail, the most prominent of which is a merger with the Northern Sean AU! Northern Sean is an au where, instead of dying permanently, Sean and his knights fall under the North's banner. Sean is Himself about it, including after he realizes he's falling for Legundo. I made this one a google doc, it was posted as an answer to an ask sent to @astronautbeans back in August!

This version of the au is the only one to have a posted fic at the moment, which is on Ao3 with the title "The Eyes Who Watch And Listen"

The other variants include:

"Shadow is a baby Eldritch Being and Legundo wants to keep him" in which Legundo wants to teach baby Eldritch Shadow How To Eldritch 101, often ft. Northern Sean (there's a lot of overlap here. everything bleeds into the rest, creating a very fun grab-bag to work with)

"RTGame is here, and he's an Eldritch Being" pretty much what is says on the tin, ft. RT being older than Legundo (how much older varies) and RTChat being his (body-less) Hivemind, in the form of stars. this one has a lot of overlap with Eldritch Shadow, and has two sub-aus of its own!

One is where they (the Beings) all have wings, which is where the art from @ice-cap-k comes from! The other involves Robert breaking free of the Hivemind, becoming a Creature (a non-human Other that is distinctly Not a Being) and the resulting Shenanigans

"100 Days Multiverse Legundo lands in the North" also exactly what it sounds like, ft. Two Legundos in different flavours of Eldritch, as many references as I can make, and the compare-contrast of the Legundos.

"Viking is here, unknowingly nonhuman, and about to have Problems" primarily mine, it's also what it sounds like! Viking is in the North, nonhuman enough to be noticeable, and interesting. And oh, does Eldritch Legundo like interesting people. The problems arise when his nonhuman heritage starts showing up, finally getting enough power to stop being subtle.

Most of this took place in a discord, so if you have more questions, feel free to ask! I've been trying to remember to ramble more on here as well, so this is a good start

Hello again! I wanted to ask about the sub-au where Robert breaks free of the hivemind. Because when I think about all I can see is Robert living in a survival horror game trying to avoid the hivemind, while the mind in question is just going "pspspsps Here Robert! Come back boy!"

ANYWAY:

SO

YOU AREN'T. WRONG?

So it's shakily set for just after Sean joins the Hivemind fully, Robert and Kim both have a touch of it but haven't joined entirely

Robert notices that Something Isn't Right about how Sean is acting around Legundo, and Legundo tries to calm him mentally.

But Robert Knows that it's false

and so he tears the Hivemind out by the roots

unfortunately (for him), he doesn't kick out all the power from the Hivemind when he does, so he's abruptly Very Mortal with a great deal of NonMortal energy

fortunately (for him), he gets very very lucky. the power latches on to his desire to be Free of the North and changes him.

the other main option, the one that happens more frequently? is the mortal with too much power simply. burning up. burning out. trying to contain a power they really aren't meant to hold.

and so Wings burst from his back, as the power swirls itself into its own opposite. and Robert becomes a Creature. Not a Being, not a hivemind. not yet. but a Creature. A human changed by the holding of power beyond their limits.

Robert becomes a Creature of the South, of Warmth and Sun and Growth instead of Snow and Ice and Cold. He screams as the power changes him, as the power breaks free into wings, vines and flowers and southern plants growing, draped over and through and around them

He shudders and looks, wide-eyed, at the table before him, at Legundo and Sean and the knights with eyes sparking green.

He takes a deep, shuddering breath.

And turns to bolt for the window.

He's out the window before the others could react, some small remnant of the Hivemind's massive pool of knowledge letting him use his brand-new wings to escape.

and so he runs. he runs for the forest, finds a safe place to set up camp. and his fire lights easily, the cold seemingly reluctant to touch him.

and, eventually. Legundo appears. alone, in body, to talk to him. it... goes. they manage to talk, for a few moments.

but Robert does not trust Legundo. and so, when The King In The North says something in just the wrong way. he runs. he flies. he heads South, towards warmer territories. all still belonging to the North, for He had conquered fairly and won the Throne, but where Robert could more easily live away from people until he could rescue his king.

Eventually, he is found, or heads back north, or both.

And Legundo sends Sean to talk to Robert

He pulls most of His power away from Sean, doesn't touch the bond that holds Sean to the Hivemind, but otherwise removes most of His touch

and Sean. Sean manages to convince Robert that he genuinely doesn't mind.

how much of his thoughts are still somewhat influenced by that bond? well. that depends on the author! :)

And so, with Sean having convinced Robert that he's okay with this, Legundo now gets to treat Robert like a feral cat he's trying to bring home

eventually, Robert agrees, and a Tie forms between the North and the South

and Robert has his King back (kind of)

and the North has the oh so interesting Creature once more with him

and now he has the time to teach him, to help him grow from Creature to Being

Hey, I loved the Robert becomes a creature post but I gotta ask. What's going threw Kim's mind as this happens? Does he have any idea that the hive mind stuff is happening? Either way what happened to Robert probably came out of left field regardless. And poor Sean, he went "You know I might just except what is happening to me" and instantly one of his knights turns into plant like creature and jumps out a window.

It wasn't quite as long a wait this time at least? Whoops- SO! Kim.

Kim is a fun one, because he was actually the first of the trio to feel the pull of the Hivemind! If you watch carefully (I can't quite remember when, it's been a bit), there's actually a point where all of the North is at a table together, and Kim is just. There? Casually. in Legundo's scenario video.

So, as a nod to that, he's the first to feel the tug! He's not quite in fully yet - unlike Sean, he's not actually connected - but he is connected enough to encourage loyalty, to let him hear the Mind talk (which isn't far from being a full member, he mostly just hasn't lost his vulnerability to cold (the sign that they use as "this is a full member of the Hivemind" :D))

Either way what happened to Robert probably came out of left field regardless.

It absolutely did! Kim knows Robert, but he wasn't paying attention to him, so he missed what few signs there were before Rob tore the Mind out, and when that happened, almost everyone was too in shock to respond in time. The few that weren't in shock were too far away to respond, because no one in that room expected Robert to jump out the window, including Robert.

And poor Sean, he went "You know I might just except what is happening to me" and instantly one of his knights turns into plant like creature and jumps out a window.

Sean is having A Time of it yeah! He just joined the edges of a Hivemind (he's still reeling, a bit, over the fact that hiveminds weren't just old legends), and now his Knight has torn the bond Sean wasn't even aware he could feel, loose from his mind. And then he sprouted wings, and jumped out a window. He's half-convinced he's gonna wake up and find out all of this was a very strange fever dream for most of that evening.
