Anyways, enjoy cursed hornet and greyroot for the "witch crest". I think I might create a series of arts for Hornet based on all the crests, so look forward to more crest designs in the future (hopefully)!

*head in hands* so i made a ‘what if greyroot was zote’s mother and zote potentially being from pharloom’ theory and i was being silly and thought greyroot and the white lady are definitely the same species and ghost (the knight) and zote look pretty alike so why not lmao

but then…

basically i found wisp thicket and as soon as i saw those wisps my mind immediately went to THIS

and when looking up more abt the wisps…

i thought zote was being dense, but he was actually right abt this?!

and i was reading more on his precepts and had an interesting idea...

listen i am absolutely reaching with this one, but hear me out!! what if zote's father found him (if zote was anything like the twisted bud), located greyroot, decided to nope out due to greyroot's weird and hostile behavior and decided to raise zote. maybe zote had asked questions abt his other parent and whatever answer his father gave him led to zote making precept 11: mothers will always betray you.

and zote's father was lording over the fact he rescued and adopted zote, leading to zote becoming resentful towards his father (leading him to make precept 52) and leaving his father (and pharloom) for good

also!! i don't know if this means anything, but...

perhaps zote's brother (adopted) had said something related to his origins (you know if he was anything like the twisted bud) and something along the lines of him being a parasite and zote absolutely not forgiving him for saying that

so basically…

these two being related (and zote being from pharloom) is potentially not out of the question and i don’t know how i feel abt this

Theory:

Greyroot is what a normal parasitic-root-thing looks and acts like.

The White Lady is what a parasitic-root-thing looks and acts like when it has ascended to godhood.

The pale being status probably gave her a higher realm of consciousness, so she can comprehend more than her innate nature of "grow and spread" like what Greyroot displays.

The White Lady is bound up like that to prevent herself from involuntarily growing all over the kingdom and destroying it.

Wait i just had a hollow knight theory or two that i need to share

What if the Battle of the Blackwyrm was when the Pale King fully expanded his rule over all of Hallownest. Maybe the Blackwyrm was the original ruler? If so, it was obviously a success, and thats why Ogrim remembers it so fondly in the Hunter's journal.

Also, following this theory I saw earlier about the Lord Fool being the molted form of the Blackwyrm (like how the current Pale King is the molted form of his bigger wyrm form), what if the colosseum was the Blackwyrm's way of picking out warriors for his eventual retaliation against the Pale King, but he passed away before the trials could end. WAIT MAYBE THATS WHY THEYRE CALLED TRIALS???

I have another addition maybe the Blackwyrm had a child with Greyroot via parasite, in an attempt to replicate the Pale King's vessels, byt ended up with Zote instead, a failed vessel (see also: Zote's dream nail dialogue in the colosseum: "I'll kill a thousand more... Will that be enough... father?" Is definitely something you would say if your dad was training worthy warriors for a war)
