Hellbound Spoilers - Ritunn Outcast
Thalia eat your heart out. Cycling, flashback, transform, normal spells and abilities... Make everything cost more!
This is 100% a hatebear designed for multiple formats, and kept just fair by making it WW instead of 1W. Double white is very hard to play in Legacy (see Council's Judgment for a good example) which keeps this from badly damaging the meta.
There are definitely some far-reaching implications with this, though. It makes Stoneforge Mystic cost 2W for both halves. Snapcaster costs an extra 2 to get that spell out of your graveyard. Young Pyromancer costs 3 and all its tokens cost more. It even makes planeswalker loyalty abilities cost mana, shutting down superfriends and hurting control even harder.
In the end, though, it's just a 2/1, and thus very easy to kill. It's definitely one to be afraid of, though!
This coming week on HLB spoilers will be story centric. I'll be introducing Gathest, Tharsa's companion, as they travel to find the ancient mage Garidexias, who saved Dghesa from the original Eldrazi attack millenia ago, and cover the basic overview of the events that ensue from their travels.
Tharsa, Creative Genius, Part 4 - Starting Loyalty
Tharsa is a planeswalker who wields both red and blue magic. Her specialties range across the spectrum, from calculated arcanums and elaborate illusions to wild, destructive firestorms and colossal waterspouts.
Part four is here! With her starting loyalty unveiled, all that's left is Tharsa's mana cost. Despite that, you now have a pretty good take on what resolving her will do - she can draw you three cards right away, or tick up to four and build to an impressive emblem in only a few turns. She even survives lightning bolt - a quality that you may find relevant.
In addition, her +1's wording has been fixed to make sense. It might need another tweak, since I'm not sure if I have to specify 'that card' or not in the uncounterability clause.
What are your predictions for her mana cost? That goes up tomorrow!
