Wukong cares but he’s crap at communicating it and Xiaoxing can’t pick up on his dads behavior, nor is it his job to do so, so they’re left in this limbo where they both don’t see eye to eye about their feelings
Xiaoxing assumes his dad didn’t care enough to keep his room clean or at least prepare it for his arrival, meanwhile Wukong had spent days stressing over the house being clean and ready for his kid to come back home only for training to take a turn for the worse and half the hut be destroyed, which led to the speedrunning of fixing it up in like two days and then to him stressing on perfectly replicating anything in Xiaoxing’s room that could have been destroyed, which leads to him being hesitant to show him his room in fear oh having not done enough
In other words, Wukong being an actual dad in the background but not visibly clear to his kid because he’s always being a dad when the kid can’t see it, and this is the premise to their relationship😭😭😭
Also Wukong ends up waking up earlier than Xiaoxing, rises with the sun kinda beat, so Xiaoxing doesn’t know his dad cuddles him to sleep, the bed is just cold as if no one else slept in it…😭😭😭
