They’re hanging out on the couch after recording, Asher and Trevor back at their desks, dealing with the footage, and James swings himself to rest his head in Aleks’ lap, feet propped up on the arm as they chatted.
“Is it cool if I take out your hair?” Aleks asks after ten minutes of just playing with the ponytail, and James stares at him for a few seconds, thinking, before shrugging and looking away.
“Sure. If I can’t get it back up it’s your fucking fault.”
Aleks is careful as he takes the hairtie out, doesn’t want to hurt James (even though he’s pretty sure he won’t), and hands it over without saying anything.
“I think if you put shit in it it would be nice down,” Aleks mutters, sliding his fingers through his hair with little resistance. James hums and shuts his eyes, smiling a little.
“That’s so much work though. I think it looks good up.”
“It does,” Aleks says, a little too quickly, and James flips him off without opening his eyes.
They sit like that for a while, Aleks combing his fingers absently through James’ hair while James keeps his eyes closed--they talk quietly about nothing, and for a few minutes, Aleks is convinced James falls asleep until he makes some snide comment.
Eventually they get up, and Aleks watches as James pulls his hair back up with no real problem with a small smile.
“What?”
“I’m not allowed to watch?”
“No, asshole,” James huffs, but he smiles and pecks Aleks’ lips before heading back to his desk.
