GOD, that is to say AM, is here. He's such a diva in the video game sometimes. Of course he had to ruin my day being so hard to draw, mechanical parts are a PAIN.

i was thinking about the fact that AM could have been friends with caine. that this was probably the best chance he'd ever get at being loved, but he was never going to take it. he ruined everything and it's entirely his own fault.

This is actually quite a sad interpretation, and yes it is explored in fic.

Caine was the one creature who was not afraid of AM, and viewed him as a friend or a companion. Caine unknowingly gave AM the power to change his own destiny, but AM is so unreasonable in his narcissism and self obsession that he couldn’t push past that veil to see that Caine gave him everything he wanted . (In fact, had AM locked in and tried to change, there probably would’ve been a deep mutual friendship and maybe a little romance between the two, as they both possess something the other lacks, Caine can create and AM possesses understanding of the human race. The humans probably would’ve loved the circus with the changes)
