HMT, an opportunity for a revivalist Indian design classic
Mr. Santosh Desai, I have had HMT's for many years, and loved their designs. Late last year, I was amused to see it's vintage value jump 3x for a few models, and hoarding begin. It's easy to romanticize the death of HMT, but the beauty of that is - there is lies a jewel.
HMT has at-least 10-15 good design classics, a fabulous logo, machinery and the people - all of which could be pieced together with a tighter product portfolio to carve out a profitable 'revivalist' watch brand, don't you think?
I am looking for Indian's thinking along the same lines. I sense a design philosophy hidden in their products already, all it will take is a few great marketers like you and a few good makers like me to re-build it.
